You could do quite a few things with $750,000. But the proud new owner of this 1969 Chevrolet Corvette L88 Convertible decided to spend it on a single car during last weekend’s Monterey Mecum Auction action.
Incase you missed our previous article on the vehicle, it isn’t just any ol’ Corvette. It was taken to restoration expert Roger Gibson for a complete frame-off restoration that made this C3 Corvette seem brand new again. The process took a total of 5,100 hours over 19 months, but the shine of the LeMans Blue paint and refreshing of the L88 427 big block were well worth it.
We always feel the need to emphasize that we would not hesitate to get behind the wheel of this mobile-art and give it a go. Yes, it is a highly valued piece of art, but it’s a car first – a car with a freshly rebuilt, open-chamber head V8, mind you. Not to mention that, technically, the buyer got a deal, as the car was valued between $850,000 and 1,100,000. We’re sure the value of this prized L88 Corvette will continue to increase as the decades roll on. Which would make this purchase more than that of desire, but also a sound investment.
The sweepstakes closes on December 22nd and the drawing will take place on December 28th.
