Affectionately known as the “Death Star,” this original 1954 Chevrolet Corvette has the beating heart of a C6 Corvette ZR1 under its flat-black fiberglass hood. That’s right, this 60-year-old first-generation Corvette is powered by a modern LS9 V8.
In order to contain the car’s 600-plus horses, the Death Star rides on a custom chassis with a C6 front suspension. Like all C1 Corvettes, a live axle sits out back. Meanwhile, Brembo carbon ceramic brakes from a ZR1 were fitted to all four corners of the Star Wars-inspired Corvette.
As the video below shows, the finished product has the speed, composure, and menacing looks to do Darth Vader proud – destroying tires as easily as the actual Death Star was able to destroy entire planets.
