Station wagons just could be the coolest cars on the road but, unfortunately, our desire for something new killed off wagons. And for what? Sport utility vehicles (SUV) and the soccer mom favorite—the minivan. While it may be hard to believe, station wagons once ruled the road and, for wagon lovers out there, eBay now has three extremely rare 1955 Cadillac Broadmoor Hotel Skyview Station Wagons for collectors to snap up.
The listing on eBay is selling three of the six wagons custom-built by Hess & Eisenhardt for the Broadmoor Hotel in Colorado Springs. At originally $15,000 each (when a typical Caddy was around $5,500), the wagons boasted four row seating capable of holding 12 passengers (eat that, minivans!). Look up and you’ll see the sky due to four Plexiglass roof panels.
The listing price of $124,000 roughly translates to $41,300 for each vehicle. That seems a little high for vehicles that need a lot of restoration, but with 12 offers and 123 watchers, it’s only a matter of time before these wagons disappear.
