“#TheNew Sanctuary,” Starring The 2014 Chevrolet Impala: Ad Break

Part of being a good parent is supporting your kids, regardless of what crazy career goals or aspirations they might have. Take the family in Chevrolet’s latest ad for the 2014 Impala for example. Their kid clearly wants to be a professional musician, but instead of taking up a soft, relatively quiet instrument, he chose to play the drums. You can see the parents become increasingly irked about the kids drumming as the day goes on, but they never get to the point where they tell him to cut it out.

Luckily, they own an Impala with acoustic laminated glass, triple door seals and Bose active noise cancellation, so when they need a little quiet time, they can have it. If you don’t own an eerily silent vehicle such as the Impala, you might want to encourage your kids to take up something a little more peaceful, maybe the piano. Or, you could build them a sound-proof recording studio, the Impala will probably be cheaper, though.

  • I can confirm the quietness of the 2014 Chevy Impala, as I drove one as a rental in October 2013 and everyone who rode in it loved it!

GM, now make it an EREV like the Volt and you will sell thousands!

  • I think the new Impala is a great vehicle for anyone. I do not however, like the engine choices. You either get an extremely hard working but fuel sipping I4 or a powerful yet gas hog of a V6. If they found a way to add AFM to the DOHC High Feature V6 (which would be quite easy as long as it has SIDI), it would be much better along with an easy installation of iVVL. I highly doubt that the V6 Impala could be able to get 29mpg hwy. Perhaps an 8-Speed would make for greater fuel economy as well.

I think an EREV Impala is unnecessary. A Hybrid Malibu and Impala would be cool though (and not one of those lame "mild hybrids"). . .
