Corvette Racing has been on a roll lately, specifically, drivers Antonio Garcia and Jan Magnussen of the No. 3 Compuware Corvette C6.R. After winning the Baltimore Grand Prix over Labor Day Weekend, the duo has managed back-to-back victories, winning the eighth round of the GT class in the American Le Mans Series championship at Circuit of The Americas.
The win marks Garcia and Magnussen’s third victory of the season moved Garcia and Magnussen into the lead of the ALMS GT drivers’ championship — leapfrogging teammates Oliver Gavin and Tommy Milner — with two rounds remaining. The result also cushioned Chevrolet’s lead in the manufacturer standings and Corvette Racing’s advantage in the team championship.
Meanwhile, the No. 4 Compuware Corvette co-driven by Gavin and Milner had transmission failure about an hour into the race. The next race for Corvette Racing is the Oak Tree Grand Prix on Saturday, Oct. 5 from Virginia International Raceway in Danville, Va. The race will air on ESPN2 at 5:30 p.m. ET on Sunday, Oct. 6 with live coverage at 2 p.m. ET, Oct. 5 on ESPN3.
