There has been a lot of murkiness revolving around the portfolio of the next-generation Cadillac CTS, which is due out sometime next year. Currently, the outgoing model offers a wonderful trio of variants, being the sedan, coupe and sport wagon along with a superpower V-spec model complementing each body style. Going into the next-generation 2014 Cadillac CTS, sources have dished to us that the CTS lineup will be slashed, with the sport wagon variant driving off into the sunset. On the same token, the sedan and even the coupe are expected to live on.
So, if you’re one of the bold souls looking for the eccentric, practical and high-performing CTS-V sport wagon, you better get on it quick. As for an ATS sport wagon, we strongly believe it’s coming.
This also leaves us with a mystery. What’s this?
At a time of year when luxury car ATP usually rises.
Sales decreased 5.6 percent to 16,670 units during the first ten months of 2024.

Hate to see any wagon or hatch drive into the sunset. They may sell in smaller numbers but the only thing more practical than a good wagon is a good pick-up. Looking forward to the ATS.
I have in my mind how the wagon was made, where an engineer got drunk and went "you know what'd be hilarious... if we made a wagon outa this an' dropped a massive engine in it", and so the CTS Wagon was born.
I'd never call it a "sane" idea, but sometimes the best ones aren't. It's a shame to see it go, but it leaves with the memory it deserves. A fleeting moment of something that existed just to be fun.
Again, the consumer has spoken. Wagons do not sell....
They do in Europe; so if Cadillac wants any kind of presence in the European luxury market, they'll need a wagon of some kind (ATS, CTS, or otherwise).
The wagon has sold better than expected, and the V wagon has blown away it's sales expectations.
The CTS will be moving up in price for the 3rd gen, sales at the higher price wont be the same as the sales volumes seen by the first and current second generation CTS. Since sales wont be as high, wagon sales also wont be as high, making it harder to justify a low volume wagon selling even less.
The ATS on the other hand is going to be the 'volume' car in the Cadillac stable so more model/body style variants are more feasible.
On a totally unrelated note, did anyone else hear about Buick potentially reviving the Grand National, T Type, and GNX.
All riding on the Alpha platform and getting turbo'd V6's for the Grand National and T-Type while the GNX will make use of the LT1 V8.
They do in Australia. The Holden Commodore Sportwagon sells very well.
