Ad Break: Last Year’s Vauxhall TV Ad Is Now Painfully Ironic

Vauxhall’s ad from September 2011, titled “Football,” is unquestionably patriotic for those that reside under the banner of the Union Jack. And through the 1.5-minute ad we notice a Vauxhaul Astra being finished at the Ellesemere plant, while the closing scene shows a massive Vauxhall logo in the center of a soccer (football) pitch, and a caption that reads: ” We’re not supporting a team. We’re supporting a nation.”

Considering what may happen to the British assembly plant at the end of the month, this commercial may come back to bite GM square in the aris. That’s cockney for arse. Which is British for ass.

  • Keep your ears open for details on where GM Europe is investing its Euros. That will reveal where the next Astra gets built. Eastern Europe is a better bet than say a Peugeot plant in France.

  • dont forget Peugeot have a good technology ,,diesel turbo, and gas,,,plus the have hybrid technology , surpass any company..front gas engine and back electric motor..
