Report: Pontiac G8-Based Sedan WILL Emerge As A Chevrolet

We know. We can’t stop smiling either. After rumors of the reincarnation of the Pontiac G8 began circulating earlier this week, (even after our own April Fool’s joke) it’s turning out to be true. According to Motor Trend, a plethora of their sources all confirmed the upcoming arrival of a Zeta-based sedan for the public. Oh, and it won’t be dubbed “Impala.”

Though we still don’t know the name of the upcoming sport sedan (we’re hoping it’s “Chevelle,”) we now understand why it took so long for this to happen. Causes for the delay of The General to actually initiate a plan to absorb a Holden VE Series Commodore into Chevrolet are quite significant, with one being that they wanted to wait until Holden gave the Commodore a refresh, which just happened this year. Another issue is it’s downright expensive to ship these Australian fun machines to the U.S. However, we see the Chevrolet version being built in Oshawa, Ontario, CA alongside its platform sharing cousin, the Chevrolet Camaro.

All we ask is that the Chevrolet version receives unique sheetmetal before it reaches shores (once again.)
