Check Out Roadster Shop’s 1976 Chevy K20 Legend Series Build: Video

The Roadster Shop has unveiled the latest addition to its Legend Series builds – a fully customized 1976 Chevy K20, aptly named Big Iron. This impressive machine pairs classic Chevy truck styling with a modern Duramax turbodiesel 6.6L LML V8 engine, delivering a hearty 900 pound-feet of torque. The powertrain is matched with a fully modernized chassis and interior, making it just as comfortable and easy to drive as it is capable.

The project goes way beyond a simple engine swap – Roadster Shop essentially re-engineered the truck from the ground up, adding custom underpinnings and suspension designed to handle heavy-duty demands. The truck sits on 37-inch tires with custom control arms, Fox coilovers, and a modern steering rack up front for improved drivability and performance. In the rear, upgraded leaf springs, Fox shocks, and helper airbags ensure the Chevy K20 can handle heavy loads and towing duties like a modern heavy-duty truck.

Indeed, towing was a significant focus of the build, with a fifth-wheel and gooseneck hitch system installed to handle a horse trailer and other large loads. Roadster Shop also maintained a clean and functional engine bay, adhering to a “wash-and-wear” philosophy – simple, practical, and easy to maintain, as opposed to a pampered show queen.

Inside, this Chevy K20 combines modern comfort with vintage appeal. The cabin features 2020 Chevy Silverado seats, which were reupholstered in distressed blue leather with Alcantara accents for a premium touch that sticks to the look. The rear retains the factory bench seat, adding utility. Modern amenities, including a backup camera, parking sensors, and a Bluetooth head unit ensure that the truck delivers both convenience and usability for everyday driving.

The team at Roadster Shop emphasizes that drivability was a key priority. The builder praises the ride quality, describing it as “mind-blowing” for a vehicle of this size and vintage.

All in all, this Chevy K20 looks to bring that highly sought-after balance of classic style, usability, and modern comfort. Check it out for yourself right here:
