With the introduction of a mid-cycle refresh for the 2024 model year, the Buick Envision is underscored by updated exterior styling, a reworked cabin, and a bevy of standard safety features. Today, GM Authority is taking a closer look at 2024 Buick Envision drive modes with the following explainer.
The 2024 Envision is available with up to five drive modes, including Tour, Sport, Off-Road, Snow / Ice, and AWD. The Driver Mode Control button is located on the instrument panel positioned to the left of the steering wheel and can be toggled to make a selection. When a mode is selected, an indicator will appear in the instrument cluster and remain active.
Tour Mode is used during normal city and highway driving to provide a smooth ride and provides a balance between comfort and handling. With this mode activated, power is sent to the front wheels.
Sport Mode is used when road conditions or personal preferences dictate a more controlled response from the vehicle. As such, this drive mode improves vehicle handling and acceleration on dry pavement by modifying pedal tuning.
Off-road mode is used for recreational driving in all-terrain conditions. With the accelerator pedal tuned for off-road use, the Antilock Brake System (ABS), the Traction Control System (TCS), and the StabiliTrak / Electronic Stability Control (ESC) systems are modified for performance. This drive mode also engages AWD which is now a standard feature for the 2024 model year.
Snow / Ice Mode improves acceleration on snow-covered roads. When activated, this drive mode adjusts pedal tuning to optimize traction on slippery surfaces. However, Snow / Ice Mode can affect acceleration on dry asphalt.
AWD Mode assists with traction and control on slippery road surfaces, such as gravel, sand, wet pavement, snow, and ice. When activated, AWD mode provides drive torque to all four wheels.

They should look at the crappy 4 engine they are pawing off to people.
I had a 2021 Envision. The 2.0L motor sounded like it was a diesel. Complained to GM corporate and they did replace the engine. Took 60 days, GM provided a loaner vehicle and paid 2 months of the lease payment. Still sounded like a diesel after all that work. When the Envision lease was over, we leased a very quiet 1.5L GMC Terrain Denali. Engine is a bit underpowered with 4 passengers but at least it is quiet.
I also had a 2.0L 2021 envision lease... just turned it in. The 2.0T wasn't exactly what I would call refined for the segment, but it did not sound like a diesel, it was subdued in the cabin, but when you first turned it on it was quite loud, especially on winter days. Once it was warmed up though, it was fine.
Not buying that GM replaced a perfectly good engine with another because a customer stated it sounded like a diesel. Try harder
My 2017 2.0T is awesome. Quiet, powerful and reliable….. as a Buick should be. All the torque I could ever want when needed. As with all my Buicks, with basic maintenance, these vehicles last forever.
I wish there would be an explanation about how to add features to the HUD. According to the manual, there are 4 views, Speed View, Active Safety View, Audio/Phone View and Navigation View, but I've found no way to choose one of the views. I've contacted GM support, fellow owners, dealer. No help. I have the 2024 Envision Avenir. There are no buttons to the left of the steering wheel like prior year models and, therefore, no "Info" button, just limited adjustments on the digital screen.
