Positioned as Buick’s largest crossover offering, the 2024 Buick Envision is set to feature a mid-cycle refresh for the new model year that will include updates to exterior styling and interior appointments. Now, GM Authority has learned that the 2024 Envision will feature an important change to its available drivetrain configurations.
In conjunction with the introduction of the mid-cycle refresh, the revised 2024 Envision will be equipped with twin-clutch AWD as standard fare across all trim levels in the United States. For reference, all trim levels of the 2023 Envision – which included Preferred, Essence and Avenir – were all configured as FWD units, with AWD being an option.
As a reminder, the 2024 Buick Envision stands out from the previous model year thanks to the introduction of a new exterior styling language that draws inspiration from the Buick Wildcat EV concept. In fact, the Wildcat’s design will serve as the model for all of Buick’s ICE-powered and electric products moving forward.
In regard to the exact styling updates, the 2024 Envision features a revised front fascia with a new grille and dual-tier headlamps, while the refreshed rear fascia boasts a new bumper and revised taillamps.
Moving to the interior, the cabin is set to receive a noteworthy overhaul. The 2024 Envision features an updated gauge cluster, larger center display, new infotainment features, and reworked center stack.
As for powertrain, the turbocharged 2.0L I4 LSY gasoline engine, rated at 228 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque, will serve as the sole offering, while output is routed to the ground via the GM nine-speed automatic transmission.
Under the skin, the Buick Envision rides on the GM E2 platform, while production is set to commence at the GM-SAIC Jinqiao Plant in Shanghai, China on December 11th, 2023.

Hello poorer gas mileage, higher maintenance costs, and heavier CAFE fines.
Stupid GM lololol.
The only extra maintenance is a transfer case and rear differential service every 60,000 miles. Hardly worth complaining about.
The fuel economy difference is only 2 miles per gallon. Again, hardly noticeable.
Keep telling yourself that nonsense.
Hope you ruin a tire on your AWD vehicle.
Anon: Really? No matter how you shake this (stupid) decision down, it’s 100% unnecessary for more than 50% of the nation. Mazda did this same stupid thing and it’s just silly. Why should I pay MORE for something with AWD when I never need it? This is the same as these brands making silly sunroof’s standard for the minority who like them.
I don’t care if it’s only extra upkeep every 60K, that’s still more. And in your world 2 MPG is hardly noticeable? There’s auto makers out there that spend million on trying to reduce weight and increase the MPG’s on their vehicles by just 1 MPG. It’s not something to blow off.
I’d thought these gouging shenanigans were over, but NO. Many don’t need AWD or the expense. This kind of decision-making makes me almost wish for a GM bankruptcy.
Amen.
The thumbs down losers are comical. Typical GM blind fanboys.
No different than Putin Bootlickers.
Alan, the thumbs up/down are silly to me and take away from the actual discussion, but I would consider myself a GM fan and I think this decision to make AWD standard is 100% dumb. I may be a fan of GM, but I’m also not afraid to call them out on the (many) stupid things they do.
There are eight Envisions at my local dealership and none of which are all-wheel drive which is a stipulation in my next vehicle purchase. Unfortunately the ugly front end design is not!
That wont compensate for the hideous new nose job though.
A stylistically classy car. I have the 2021 version and love it. Wish I had that newer logo. The older logo looked like an 18th century family crest. I just hope that GM also changes their jingle with their new advertisements — it needs an update — a refresh.
The nose job is hideous! The old styling was perfect! Did the need to change it because of selling Opel? They changed their nose too but doesn’t look this bad.
This should be made in the US.
So more of the same from GM. Less choice, lower MPG, higher weight and of course higher prices for those around the globe that have no need for AWD. Talk about White Space, this company defines the term with their swiss cheese lineup.
