No. 19 NASCAR Chevy Truck Falls Short At Indy 2024: Video

While the No. 98 Ford F-150 race truck of Ty Majeski rallied back from an early race restart violation to win at Indianapolis Raceway Park on July 19th, 2024, the No. 19 NASCAR Chevy Silverado RST of Christian Eckes could only watch as he followed to a second-place finish behind him.

Eckes led for most of the race. In fact, he racked up 73 laps led, the most of any Truck Series driver on Friday night. Eckes surrendered the lead to Majeski when the Ford driver used a lapped truck to stall Eckes’ run. Majeski passed Eckes in Turns 1 and 2, and never looked back, leading the No. 19 NASCAR Chevy across the line by an impressive 4.129 seconds.

That wasn’t the only issue Eckes had during the race. He made contact with the No. 11 Toyota TRD Tundra of Corey Heim on Lap 88, relegating Heim to a 17th-place finish. Heim’s truck suffered a cut tire from the contact and had to use up an extra set of tires prematurely, meaning he had to finish the race on older tires than the rest of the field.

Eckes, for his part, took fault for the incident.

“I just misjudged the straightaway,” he said. “He’s got every right to be mad.”

Grant Enfinger’s No. 19 Silverado finished third, followed by the No. 18 Silverado of Tyler Ankrum. Layne Riggs’ No. 38 F-150 rounded out the top five. Currently, Eckes retains the point lead over Heim by 50 points.
