Gorgeous 1951 Chevy 3100 Custom Restomod Headed To Auction: Photos

The upcoming Barrett-Jackson Palm Beach 2024 auction is set to feature a stunning “Advance Design” 1951 Chevy 3100 Custom Pickup, affectionately nicknamed “Glossy”. This meticulously restored vehicle was created by a father-son duo, Rob and Kieran Hemminger from Katy, Texas, who embarked on this ambitious project in 2017 and unveiled it two years later at Houston Autorama. Now, this eye-popping restomod is looking for a new home.

Motivating this Chevy 3100 is an LS-based LM7 5.3-liter Vortec 5300 V8 engine, which features enhancements like a Brian Tooley cam, Velocity brushed intake, and polished intake tube, complemented by Chevrolet orange-finned valve covers and a TSP pulley system. An aluminum radiator paired with an electric fan and a billet overfill canister provide the cooling, while spent gasses exit via Sanderson ceramic headers and a stainless dual-exhaust system with Pypes Performance mufflers and electronic cutouts.

Routing power rearwards is a 4L60 automatic transmission equipped with a Circle D torque converter feeding an 8.2-inch Eaton posi-traction rear end.

The truck’s chassis has been strengthened by boxing both the front and rear sections, while the flawless undercarriage reveals a full TCI front and rear suspension system, power rack and pinion steering, new upper and lower control arms, a four-link setup, and RideTech coilovers. Wilwood 4-wheel disc brakes adorned with red calipers provide the stop.

Taking a step back, this Chevy 3100 is bathed in “Midnight Blue Pearl” paintwork, which appears almost liquid under the light, earning the truck its nickname “Glossy”. The body retains much of its original sheet metal, with modifications including new tinted glass for all five windows, custom-made panels under the large chrome front grille, and polished forged wheels by Coy C5 measuring 18 and 20 inches, wrapped in Hankook Ventus tires.

Interior modifications are equally impressive, with two-tone brown leather upholstery that covers the bench seat, headliner, sun visors, door panels, and armrests. Modern amenities such as a Vintage Air system, Infinity Bluetooth receiver, Alpine speakers, and Dakota Digital VHX gauges blend seamlessly with classic aesthetics. Keyless entry and ignition are provided by a Guard Dog Keyless Go system, adding a touch of modern convenience and security.

Now, “Glossy” is set to go under the hammer with no reserve as Lot 761 at the Barrett-Jackson Palm Beach 2024 auction. How high do you think the bidding will go?

  • I love my Chevy 51' 5 window
I just don't have $100,000 to do that.
I'd be afraid to drive it!
Great ride, love the color too! Exactly what I've
    Been planning on. Someday!

  • Hey, dummy, My family has been in the custom vehicle business since the 1800s. I've personally been at it as a hobby and business for over 50 years. I'm currently writing a book on the cool car industry, so I'm pretty sure I know a cool ride when I see it.
