Some 2021 Chevy Traverse owners may experience a condition wherein the front exhaust pipe on their crossover separates from the mounting bracket, resulting in damage to the pipe. Now, General Motors has issued new Special Coverage that addresses this issue. Additionally, 2021 Chevy Traverse customers who may have previously had this issue repaired may be given compensation to cover the repair bills.
According to General Motors, the new GM Special Coverage (N222385510) is only applicable the 2021 model year of the Chevy Traverse. The condition described includes the separation of the front mounting bracket from the front exhaust pipe. If this occurs, the exhaust pipe may develop a hole around the bracket condition, leading to a rattling noise or increased exhaust noise.
In order to address this issue, GM is instructing its technicians to install a new exhaust front intermediate pipe, as well as a new catalytic converter to the front exhaust pipe gasket. Dealerships should replace the front exhaust pipe as necessary, while repairs will be made at no charge to the customer. The special coverage covers the condition described (the separation of the front mounting bracket from the front exhaust pipe) for a period of 150,000 miles, or 15 years, whichever occurs first from the day the vehicle was originally placed in service, regardless of ownership.
In addition, owners of eligible vehicles that were repaired for the condition described prior to the release of the recent special coverage are eligible to receive reimbursement for any reasonable expenses related to the repair. The reimbursement is provided for the purpose of GM customer satisfaction, and is personal to customers. As such, customers may not assign reimbursement claims or any other rights granted by the Special Coverage to any third-party.
As a reminder, the 2021 Chevy Traverse is motivated by the naturally aspirated 3.6 L LFY V6 gasoline engine, while the GM C1 platform provides the underpinnings. Production took place at the GM Lansing Delta Township plant in Michigan.

Any new information on this? Same thing happened to my 2018 Traverse. Does anyone know if the build is the same in the 2018-2021 Traverses?
In the dealer now with this problem on my 2018 Traverse
The exhaust on my 23 had seven breaks in the welds and the cross hanger. Dealer refused to fix under warranty and I had to p a y out of pocket
I had a 2019 Traverse with this issue. The dealer fixed everything without an issue or need to use the special coverage because our state mandates an 8 year/80,000 mile warranty on major emissions parts and ours snuck in before those limits.
I am taking my 2020 to the dealership on my next day off. I can't stand to listen to that loud sowing machine engine with an exhaust leak.
