2022 Chevy Tahoe, Suburban Power-Sliding Console Unavailable To Order

The Chevy Tahoe and Chevy Suburban both received an all-new generational overhaul for the 2021 model year, with the 2022 model year introducing just a hand full of changes and updates. Unfortunately, GM Authority has learned that the power-sliding console for both the 2022 Chevy Tahoe and 2022 Chevy Suburban is currently unavailable to order.

For those readers who may be unaware, the power-sliding center console offers multiple positions and configurations for added comfort and practicality, sliding forward and backwards up to 10 inches. Tagged with RPO code DCH, the full name of the feature is power-sliding center floor console with drawer, secure storage, manual sliding armrest and cup holders for second row.

It’s currently unclear if the feature unavailability is a result of the ongoing global microchip shortage, or if it’s simply due to supplier constraint.

The power-sliding console is typically optional for Chevy Tahoe and Chevy Suburban LT, RST and Z71 trim levels. The power-sliding console is priced at $350, but requires the Luxury Package (RPO code WPL, $2,525) and power-release second row bucket seats (RPO code ATN, $370). The power-sliding console is also typically standard on Premier and High Country trim levels, but is replaced by the conventional Floor console with storage area and removable storage tray (RPO code D07) when ordered with second row power 60/40 split-folding bench seats (RPO code ATT) rather than the standard second-row bucket seats (RPO code ATN).

For the moment, 2022 Chevy Tahoe and 2022 Chevy Suburban Premier and High Country trim levels will receive the Floor console with storage area and removable storage tray, which means a $350 credit on the price of the vehicle in lieu of the power-sliding center floor console with drawer, secure storage, manual sliding armrest and cup holders.

As a reminder, the 2022 Chevy Tahoe and 2022 Chevy Suburban are offered with three engine options, including the atmospheric 5.3L V8 L84, atmospheric 6.2L V8 L87, and 3.0L I6 LM2 turbodiesel Duramax. Under the skin is the GM T1 platform, with production taking place at the GM Arlington plant in Texas.

  • At the rate GM is going all new trucks will have vinyl seats, rubber floors, crank windows, and keyed entry. After 50 years of being a Chevy truck fan I think I am done. so sad. Thanks Mary, good job.

  • Changing from 3 Suburban models, LS, LT, LTZ, to LS, LT, Z71, RST, Premier, and High Country appears to have been a mistake.
Only benefit for GM was to increase profits by creating a line of Suburban's that allowed every additional feature to add to an additional option charge.
Similar to an Airline charging you for luggage, charging you extra to book your seat in advance, or a discount Airline charging you for a real ticket if you can't print a ticket off on line, GM is charging you extra if you want a paint colour other than Black or White.
The President of GM and the Board of Directors have to realize that all these unnecessary changes are being developed by incompetent staff coming up with wild ideas to justify their time at work, so as to keep their high paying jobs, benefits and pensions. Meanwhile the average car/truck buyer is starting to look at what other automobile manufactures are producing. Chrysler, and KIA etc. are grabbing the basic car market while GM puts the IMPALA, and MALIBU on the shelf. GM needs to hire the everyday blue collar car /truck buyers to understand what they want to buy/drive and what GM should build. Give all those high paid designers and dreamers their pink slips and get back to reality. I will work for GM for 1/2 what they are paying those that are bringing GM down. This is the opinion of a dedicated GM buyer for 50 years.

    • Thank You Dave For Hitting The Nail On The Head. I Too Have Been A Dedicated GM Buyer For 50 Years. I Couldn't Say It Any Better...Thanks!

  • WHEELS555, We can only keep our fingers crossed and hope that the President of GM and the Board of Directors actually read this.

  • I have this feature on my 2022 Yukon. It’s something I could live without. Yes there is a secret compartment but it takes away from the depth of the main center console and makes it less useful. Plus when it is moved back it takes away your armrest.

    • That's exactly the way I think about it, its just a gimmick hiding spot that doesn't have that much usefulness unless your a chick wanting to hide your purse so I really couldn't give a damn if it is deleted

  • We have a 2022 Suburban in production now with this option included. It was ordered back in mid-December. Any know if this unavailability moving forward will apply to our in production vehicle, or does it just apply to new orders moving forward?

  • Look at it on the bright side. I have it and it’s been replaced 3 times in a year and 1/2 because it keeps breaking. My guess is it’s a POS and needs a redesign which is why it’s not available.

  • It’s a great feature for someone like me that does a lot of different road trips up and down the East Coast and across the country

That’s why it’s an option. You’re free to not choose it.

  • Ladies love it as it gives them a place to put their purse vs. the floor (keep it cleaner and close to reach) and allows cup holders to be within easier reach of children in the back seat. For many its one of the nicer features.

  • Agree. Loosing sliding console is a deal breaker for me. Will keep my truck with bench seat so I have my purse right next to me rather than reaching across a whole useless console to pick it up. I bought a smaller SUV with a console jus to see if I can deal with a console and I'll be getting rid of it for sure. I have orthopedic issues with my right hand as well, so lifting anything with weight is difficult. I have a deposit sitting at a Chevy dealer to order a Tahoe or Suburban when the get an allocation, but looks like I'll be waiting to see what they really can build in a 2023 at this point. IF they can't build what I want my I may need to keep truck forever!
