Widely praised for offering a combination of power, style, and a sophisticated driving experience, the 1966 Oldsmobile 442 does everything expected of a classic muscle car, and more. Now, this perfectly restored two-door coupe is up for sale.
Outside, this 1966 Oldsmobile 442 presents in gorgeous Regal Red paint, which looks to be laser-straight and polished to a mirror finish. The red paint is complemented by a selection of chrome and stainless bits, as well as reproduction Firestone redline tires. The windshield and weather stripping are all-new as well.
Inside, the cabin space is adorned in black, with new upholstery for the bucket seats. Aftermarket seatbelts were added in back. All of the lighting works as intended, while the center console features the Hurst shifter and 442 logo. The dash comes with a rare factory tachometer option.
All of the switches look good, and the headliner is more or less perfect. New sill plates and embroidered mats greet passengers and the driver, while the original AM/FM radio was restored, connecting to a new speaker. A set of oil and temperature gauges are included as well.
Taking a peek under the hood, we find the original L69 TriPower V8 engine, which was rebuilt and balanced, backed by a detailed spec sheet. The engine was bored 30 over and fitted with a Comp cam and rockers, and the heads were redone as well. Now, this ‘eight is verified to produce 364 horsepower and 426 pound-feet of torque.
Further touches include an upgraded aluminum radiator and auxiliary electric fan, while Flowmaster dual exhaust pipes send spent gasses rearwards. The engine connects to a four-speed transmission and 3.90 posi rear end.
This 1966 Oldsmobile 442 looks spotless underneath as well, and comes with power steering and Rallye suspension.
Now, this 1966 Oldsmobile 442 is up for sale from Volo Auto Sales in Illinois for $59,998. The sale includes a stack of documentation and information on the restoration.
