Following a slip-up from Buick Canada, which stated the 2018 Buick Regal GS would arrive with a 3.6-liter V6 engine, it seems the vehicle itself has been revealed prematurely.
Car News China has published what look to be official images of the Chinese-spec, 2018 Buick Regal GS. We say Chinese-spec because there’s a traditional trunk at the rear, not a liftback design like North America’s Regal Sportback.
Shown in a bright white hue, the Regal GS looks properly sporty with more aggressive ground effects, sculpted front and rear fascias and five-spoke wheels with red brake calipers. The exhaust also seems to be trimmed in pseudo-alloy exhaust pipes.
As for power, China will supposedly keep the 2.0-liter LTG turbocharged four-cylinder engine, which produces 255 horsepower. As for the aforementioned V6 engine for North America, the report pegs the power figure to sit at 340 hp. All-wheel drive isn’t mentioned, but it should be a given at least for the U.S. and Canada.
Interestingly, the report states the Regal GS will bow alongside the more pedestrian Regal at the 2017 Shanghai Auto Show. We knew the 2018 Regal sedan would show face, but the GS would be quite a surprise indeed.

Hoping for more power in GS trim stateside. I have a 14 regal 259/295 (non GS ) love the car but the next gen should GS should have more power.
I had a 12 GS, with 270 HP, now I have a 15 GS with 259 HP (AWD) To be honest the 15 actually has more pickup. I'm so excited for the new GS, my lease will be up next yr and I will be able to get the new generation. I went in for a Cadillac ATS 2.0 T AWD, and came back out with my second GS because it's unique look and features. I was very excited to hear that a 3.6 will be in it.
I had a 1995 Regal Limited sedan with the NA 231 Ci (3.8 L) V6, which I sold to a new owner after 21 years. He loves how that car runs. I visited him yesterday, saw the Regal again, and it still looks as good as I saw it for the first time! I am happy that the 2018 regal has a 3.6 L V^ as it is the best for that car size and type. I wonder if a third-party will sell either a turbocharger package (and revive the GNX), or a supercharger for that V6.
try my new camaro with the turbo LTG 275 hp 295 torque weighing 3300 lbs muchhh lighter than a buick and plenty of room for upgrades the 8 speed hydramatic can handle 740 lbs of torque
just go for the ats-v the 3.6 twin turbo ....
That's a better looking E Class than the original; and knowing GM and Buick, it won't have the gaudy body panel gaps as the MB.
Expect over 300 hp and Awd. No need for a supercharger or TT set up for this car. You also would not to pay the price if they were included
I note they have gone 5 door for now and wonder how long till they bring the 4 door sedan.
One has to wonder if US sales tank while the Chinese variant with the conventional truck get sales of over 10,000 vehicles a month will cause Buick of US to consider adopting the conventional trunk or whether China's Buick Regal will get a hybrid module from Cadillac's CT6 PHEV.
In order to produce a variant of the Insignia/NAFTA-Regal, GM would have to build a second set of the stamping tools for the rear of the car with the tiny hatch to the trunk for the Rüsselsheim factory, or stamp them in China and ship those parts to Germany, in order to produce a rather small number of Insignias/NAFTA-Regals with the tiny hatch to the trunk.
I don't know how costly this would be, and if the production programming in Rüsselsheim could be changed at such short notices, but I doubt that this extra would not e economical.
Also, the Insignia/Regal has quite a large trunk, so why do you think anybody would want only a tiny flap to access it?

Looks like a Toyota Camry/ Mazda! Boooo... Very disappointed in this sneak peak picture. The 2015, 2016, 2017 Regal GS had my vote in side by side comparisons to cars of all makes under 40k.
