We’ve highlighted the 2017 HSV GTSR W1, we’ve told you all about the HSV GTSR range, but now, let’s look at what rounds out Holden Special Vehicles’ final group of performance-minded Commodores.
Along with the GTSR W1 and GTSR, Holden has introduced its “30 Year Range” of HSVs, celebrating, well, 30 years of building HSVs.
Although the GTSR W1 and GTSR are included in this overarching range of cars, the GTS, Maloo R8, Clubsport R8 LSA, Senator SV and Clubsport R8 Tourer remain the “entry level” models for HSV. Though, entry level certainly doesn’t mean lack of performance.
Each model receives an extra 13 hp and 15 lb-ft of torque from the 6.2-liter supercharged LSA V8 engine, save for the HSV GTS. Power for each model jumps to 550 hp and 510 lb-ft of torque. The GTS’ power figure remains at 577 hp and 546 lb-ft of torque. However, plenty of GTS goodies trickle down to entry level HSVs.
Torque vectoring is standard across the lineup as is a reworked bi-modal exhaust system. The recalibrated exhaust is said to really open up the 6.2-liter LSA 8 engine after the previous 2016 range of HSVs were deemed much too quiet. The GTS’ previously exclusive AP Racing brake package is now optional for every other HSV model as well.
HSV will also offer up three new color choices, too, which we’ve seen testing in the past. They include “Spitfire”, a lively green tone, “Light My Fire”, a burnt orange hue and “Son of a Gun” gray.
Plenty of “30 Year” badging is present throughout the interior and exterior of each model, but if you look closely, HSV has tweaked the exterior of each model as well. New front and rear bumpers, new side skirts and bonnet vents and wheels are all present and accounted for.
HSV says production for each variant making up the 30 Year Range has already entered production and will reach dealerships shortly. These final vehicles likely make up the final iteration of Commodore-based performance vehicles, since HSV has no current plans with the inbound, imported 2018 Holden Commodore.
And with that, Commodore certainly will not go quietly into the night.
