700 pounds. 700 pounds lighter than the previous model. Mark Reuss, GM’s head of product, really wants everyone to know the new 2017 GMC Acadia is much lighter, more fuel efficient and capable than the previous model. Then again, also smaller.
Reuss also focused heavily on the Acadia’s new powertrains in the video. With the standard new-to-Acadia’s 2.5-liter engine, this crossover SUV is estimated to achieve 28 mpg on the highway (with front-wheel drive). There’s the new 3.6-liter LGX V6 with active fuel management — the option for customers who have things to tow. With 310 horsepower, the V6 equipped Acadia is expected to tow up to 4,000 lbs.
All models will also feature a “drive mode selector” that can be put into several different modes via a rotary knob on the front center console.
According to Reuss, aesthetically, the 2017 model “captures the essence of GMC.” Reuss stressed that the exterior/interior design and features were heavily influenced by “extensive customer input.”
One thing they should love is the new OnStar 4G LTE Wi-Fi, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto capabilities.
The 2017 GMC Acadia Denali trim also differentiates itself — beyond just slapping on the signature chrome grill — with an electronically controlled continuous damping system for a smoother and more refined ride.
Although Reuss didn’t mention pricing for the new model, expect the new 2017 GMC Acadia to hit dealerships this spring.
