Holden has recently been hit with the European invasion. Its latest product come from newfound cousin Opel, and reside as the 2016 Holden Cascada, Holden Insignia VXR and Holden Astra.
Though, while Europe enjoys the all-new 2016 Opel Astra K, Holden will keep steady with the previous-generation Astra until the fourth-quarter of 2016, according to CarsGuide.
It was a near certainty Holden would receive the new 2016 Astra K sooner rather than later, but what’s news to us is the addition of the 2016 Chevrolet Cruze to the future lineup.
Holden sales and marketing director, Peter Keley, let it slip that the brand’s incoming small-car strategy will likely include the new 2016 Cruze, imported from South Korea, and the 2016 Astra, imported from Europe.
“We will sell more Cruze with the next generation (than we do currently),” said Keley. “We will sell more small cars in the future than we do today.”
Current Holden Cruze production, which is assembled locally in Australia, will end in 2016, one year before the last vehicle rolls off the assembly lines in Holden’s manufacturing arm. It’s unclear whether the 2016 Astra K will also see a new Holden Cruze hatchback alongside it.
But, if Holden is keen on appealing to the “New Australia“, it may be a plausible scenario.

You're exactly right there. Won't do much to reverse the harm GM have done to the brand, though. They might as well give up on Australia the moment the last Commodore rolls off the line at Elizabeth!

Verano is Astra's saloon twin in Europe. My bet is on it being shipped in.
