2016 Chevrolet Camaro Red Line Concept Shows Off Its Street-Smart Style

The 2015 SEMA Show, taking place in Las Vegas, is nearly upon us. That means automakers will be bringing out some of its best in aftermarket and accessories for many of its hottest cars.

And what better place to start for Chevrolet than with the highly-anticipated 2016 Camaro? Say hello to the 2016 Chevrolet Camaro Red Line concept.

Chevrolet will bring a whole lineup of Red Line concepts to the 2015 SEMA show, with the 2016 Camaro highlighting the bunch. The brand says the Red Line concepts demonstrate “the lifestyle and personalization possibilities of the brand’s latest vehicles” with a stylish aesthetic.

The 2016 Camaro Red Line concept wears an “Enhanced Silver Metallic” paint hue, complimented by a charcoal roof panel and Satin Graphite and red accents. The accessory concept also wears Satin Graphite mirror caps and moldings, with glossy black and red “Camaro” nameplate badging tying the design together.

Twenty-inch wheels finished in, you guessed it, Satin Graphite with red accents and red fog lamp bezels round out the exterior design of the concept. But, there’s more going on underneath the concept’s skin.

The brand has decked the 2016 Camaro Red Line out with a host of genuine Chevrolet Accessories and Performance parts including:

  • Suspension lowering kit
  • Air intake kit
  • Brake package
  • Black bowtie kit and fender badge kit
  • Upper and lower grille inserts in red
  • Darkened taillamps
  • Premium carpeted floor mats, cargo mat and sill plates.

The concept mixes production and concept accessories that Chevrolet developed in house, and the brand says it will be keeping a close eye on reactions on some of the concept accessories the concept displays.

“The Chevrolet Red Line Series concepts integrate accessories that offer greater personalization choices,” said Jim Campbell, GM U.S. vice president of Performance Vehicles and Motorsports. “Each vehicle wears production and concept accessories thematically linked under the Red Line Series banner. We look forward to gauging public reaction at the SEMA Show and other venues.”

  • Let's see. First the 2016 Camaro borrows the Sky's chrome grille accent styling (base with chrome inlay in the lower grille, SS removed). Now they're stealing trim names too.

I wonder (sarcastically) how many of those Saturn marketeers landed on the Camaro team...

I like the new Camaro, but an easy way to sell hundreds of thousands more cars - is to gestate an affordable two-seater Alpha car. I don't know many Sky Red Line owners that would be interested in trading for a Camaro Red Line.

  • How exactly do you borrow, or steal,,, what was yours to begin with?

I guess GM has been stealing motors (to name just one) from it's self for decades!

    • Excuse me, anonymous poster, where did I say they stole it from me?

GM has heritage rules that prohibit using older names and styling from other brands. That is why the G8 ST was denied being called the Pontiac El Camino.

Clearly, Chevy is trying to incorporate some Saturn DNA from the retired badge, but I suspect that is mostly (just as I plainly said) is due to Saturn marketing and product people migrating to Chevrolet.

  • Chris the fact is the Redline was not a Saturn car name it was a trim name.

Also in this day and age GM used it for more than likely several reasons. One it is a good name that many missed at Saturn since few were buying them. Two GM owned the name and it is easy to reuse some names that they already have under license.

It is clear a Redline Truck and Camaro is not trying to steal any Saturn buyers as Saturn never offered anything likes these vehicles.

As for Alpha 2 seater? While I am a sports car owner and love them there really is little need for a second one at Chevy and Buick right now really could use more cars in general that seat more than 2 people. As it was the Kappa cars were going to go away as sales were down and their run was nearing the end. Most sports cars other than the Miata and Vette have 5-10 year runs and they go away. The RX7 the Nissan's, MR2 and others have all come and gone some more than once.

Note too this is a limited time trim package for Chevy so it is not like it is a new model that will carry on for years. That is even if it goes into production. Finally if they do make it this will only be offered 3-6 months like the other trim packages.

GM may offer something in the future but for now they have other more high volume and higher profit needs.

      • By the way you are the one who compared it to model names El Camino not trim names. So don't get all Duh at me.

        • Frankly it sounds like the perfect rebuke for your overly-long walls of text.

I don't always agree with Chris. But when I don't, at least I don't lose a quarter of my life.

          • Sorry but some of us have complete thoughts. Complete thoughts do not take a quarter of your life to write either.

If you like it good if not skip it.

  • I have a 2011 Corvette Grand Sport so I like the Hash Marks on the fenders, but they look dumb on the wheels.

    • I agree they were going to do the wheels do all the slots or none at all. I could see the OCD people going crazy LOL.

I really think they should have done the hash marks on the other models too. Leaving them off the others kind of leaved them look incomplete.
