Last year, the 2015 Chevrolet Camaro Z/28 was the only vehicle invited to the party from General Motors to Road&Track Magazine’s Performance Car of the Year competition. GM fan boys gather ‘round. Because this year, both the 650 hp C7 Corvette Z06 and the 464 hp Cadillac ATS-V are fighting for the title.
But, competition is stiff with competitors including the Mercedes-AMG GT S, Ford Mustang GT350R, Ferrari 488 GTB, Bentley Continental GT3R, Porsche Cayman GT4 and Dodge Viper ACR.
For its Performance Car of the Year, R&T takes each vehicle down through rural roads of Kentucky and Tennessee and a two-day stay at the National Corvette Museum’s racetrack.
Being one of the lowest on power (mind you, 464 hp), the ATS-V may have more ground to catch next to its competitors. But, R&T previously gushed about the caddy’s performance credentials, so it should be interesting how it fairs.
The Corvette nameplate already has a PCOTY win racked up from 2013, so the Corvette Z06 has a reputation to uphold. With its supercharged LT4 V8 and 650 hp and 650 lb-ft of torque and more carbon fiber trim than ever, the Z06 won’t go down without a fight.
With the winner soon to be revealed, R&T has us anxiously waiting for the winner. Let us know who you think will take the crown in the comments below.

Hopefully ZO6 will perform better than it did in Motor Trends best handling car! Very disappointing for another high attention mechanical issue with the ZO6!
I completely agree. I don't understand how so many problems can plague one car! There doesn't seem to be near as many issues with the CTSV's engine as the z06's. It should be embarrassing for the Corvette team that their car didn't even produce the proper amount of boost during Best Driver's Car testing! Maybe the z06 didn't not have enough testing before production to see all of the flaws. I am a huge Chevy guy but it's a piss off to see all of these different problems.
