With over 50 years in the business, Kooks Custom Headers has become a staple brand for domestic owners to obtain boutique exhaust systems. And for those owning a current-generation, 2014/15 Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra 1500 pickup trucks equipped with the new direct injected 5.3L and 6.2L engines that have been wishing for more grunt and better airflow than what GM initially provides, the Kooks have got you covered.
The aftermarket company will be releasing a handcrafted set of long tube headers and a Y-pipe style exhaust connection for the two types of engines. The headers utilize 304 grade stainless steel that is 18 gauge (or 0.0478 inches) thick, venturi improving stamped merge collectors, have 3/8″ thick laser cut flanges and a ball and socket connection to establish a leak free seal.
Additionally, the Y-pipes come with the company’s “Green” catalytic converter option that is EPA legal in 49 states and promises more performance. All while keeping the dreaded “Check Engine Light” at bay.
Prices for the headers are as follows: $1,174.59 for the 1 3/4″ x 3″ and $1,189.06 for the 1 7/8’ x 3″. For both the 5.3L and 6.2L engines, prices for the Y-pipes range from $474.35 (for the off-road only pipe) to $1,047.12 (which includes the “Green” catalytic converters).
