Spelman College senior and recipient of the 2014 Buick Achievers Scholarship, Narteza Dykes will be honored during the United Negro college Fund 30th annual An Evening of Stars. The show will broadcast live Sunday April 13 at 10 p.m. on BET and will celebrate rising graduation rates among minorities.
Since its origination in 2011, the Buick achievers Scholarship Program has donated over $16 million dollars to more than 3,300 students. Statistically, one third of the recipients are either African American or Hispanic and are the first in their family to go to college.
GM and The GM Foundation are long time supporters of the UNCF and have donated over $15 million to the organization over the past 2 decades. The funds have made college more affordable and accessible to academically inclined minority students.
