While some may not believe it, living in Southeast Michigan does have a few perks — even if one does not appreciate hockey, or ruin porn. One such perk is the ability to photograph test mules swathed in camouflaged in an attempt to hide what’s in the pipeline.
The latest car found on urban safari is a lightly camouflaged Cadillac XTS, spotted in swanky Birmingham, Michigan parked on the downtown strip. But what’s the point of an XTS test mule if the big Caddy has already begun its launch?
Autoweek speculates that this may be tied to the Cadillac XTS Platinum concept — a very coddling example of a plug-in hybrid, as its 3.6L V6 engine was mated to an electric motor. With a slew of full size sedans gaining hybrid technology in hopes of boosting fuel economy, this guess could be right on the money. The only puzzling part is that there is no external charging port, just a fuel tank cover. So it could be in our best guess that it might not be plug-in capable, but a hybrid nonetheless.

While the XTS is in need of varying powertrains, a performance model seems more unlikely than a hybrid.
