A new viral video has hit social media capturing the moment a police Chevy Tahoe pursuit vehicle launches off a three-foot concrete barrier during a high-speed chase. The video, recorded by a nearby motorist, shows law enforcement in pursuit of a black SUV as police vehicles engage in a chaotic attempt to stay on the fleeing vehicle’s tail. Eventually, law enforcement catch up to the suspect and ram it into an embankment.
The pursuit appears to involve officers from Florida’s Broward County Sheriff’s office. The video begins on the highway, where police are chasing a black SUV at high speed. One of the pursuit vehicles already showing signs of damage, with smoke and debris trailing in its wake. As the chase gets under way, we see the fleeing SUV make an abrupt maneuver towards an exit, prompting the pursuit vehicle to follow. The police sedan spins out of control after failing to make the corner, but despite this, the chase continues.
The most jaw-dropping moment occurs seconds later when another police vehicle, a Chevy Tahoe, drives straight off a three-foot-high concrete abutment. The large SUV flies and crashes back to the ground in what seems like a scene ripped from an action movie. After drifting over to the shoulder, the Tahoe continues to charge forward, undeterred by the rough landing.
Shortly after its dramatic leap, the Chevy Tahoe moves in to execute a PIT maneuver, slamming into the rear of the fleeing black SUV. The impact forces the suspect’s vehicle off the road and into the adjacent embankment, ending the chase. Officers immediately jump out of their vehicles to apprehend the suspects, bringing the high-stakes pursuit to a close.
It’s wild to see so much mayhem left in the wake of this chase. It’s unclear what other damage was done, or what the suspected crimes may have been, but it’s likely the damage caught on camera wasn’t the only damage to occur.
