As part of a broader move to widespread vehicle electrification, GM is offering up all-electric commercial vehicles like the Chevy BrightDrop vans, including the Zevo 400 and Zevo 600. These battery-driven delivery vehicles offer impressive range, tons of high-tech features, and ample cargo room, all with zero local emissions. Each Chevy BrightDrop van is produced at the GM CAMI plant in Canada, and now, we’re taking a behind-the-scenes look as new units are assembled.
The GM CAMI plant is located in Ingersoll, Ontario, and holds the honor of Canada’s first full-scale electric vehicle manufacturing plant. The tour begins in the adjacent battery plant, where we see workers assembling battery packs to power the new BrightDrop vans. Interestingly, completed battery packs are transported on autonomous pallets.
Next up, we see vehicle assembly, including mounting the vehicle roof, as well as installation of the vehicle fascia, fenders, and side cladding. Later, we see the onboard vehicle electronics boot up for the first time for a quick quality test. Finally, the video shows the host going for a test drive as a brand-new BrightDrop van drives out of the CAMI facility.
“Being the first, it’s like something to be incredibly proud of,” says CAMI Plant Director Bill Harkness.
“So building this electric vehicle, building the new batteries, we are so excited to meet you and to brag about it and to tell everybody,” Harkness tells the video host.

As GM Authority covered previously, General Motors announced in August that it was moving its all-electric BrightDrop commercial vans under the Chevrolet brand, effective for the 2025 model year. GM Authority suggested way back in March that it was only a matter of time before BrightDrop would fall under the Chevy brand umbrella. General Motors frames the move as an expansion to the Chevy EV portfolio, giving customers “access to one of the industry’s largest and most extensive commercial sales and service networks.”
The Chevy BrightDrop Zevo 400 starts at $78,625, while the larger BrightDrop Zevo 600 model starts at $80,125. Check out our previous coverage for more BrightDrop van pricing information. The BrightDrop vans are motivated by GM batteries and GM drive motors.
