Cadillac just unveiled its latest concept, the Cadillac Opulent Velocity, an all-electric hypercar embodying the brand’s vision for the future of luxury and performance. Following a teaser released in March, the Opulent Velocity concept introduces a striking design and novel technology concepts, all while giving a nod to the brand’s motorsport efforts.
At its core, the Cadillac Opulent Velocity offers a dual-mode driving experience, aptly named “Opulent” and “Velocity.” These modes cater to distinct user preferences, providing either the serenity of fully autonomous driving, or the thrilling control of high-performance manual driving.
In “Opulent” mode, the focus is on ultimate comfort and relaxation. This mode employs Level 4 autonomous driving technology, allowing the car to operate hands-free while passengers are immersed in a luxurious environment. The cabin is equipped with a full widescreen display, an Augmented Reality Head-Up Display (AR HUD), and multi-sensory experiences like curated digital art and ambient lighting, creating an individualized atmosphere.
Switching to “Velocity” mode activates the Opulent Velocity’s high-performance attributes, inspired by Cadillac’s Blackwing engineering. This mode brings the car to life with the steering wheel and pedals emerging from their stowed positions, ready for manual control. Velocity mode also features a “Ghost Car” function on the HUD, allowing drivers to compete against virtual opponents or challenge their own best lap times on track. Drivers can also fine-tune the vehicle’s performance with active aero settings, suspension dampening, and similar adjustments.
In terms of design, the Opulent Velocity’s exterior design takes cues from Cadillac’s V-Series.R hybrid race cars, showing off a sleek, low-slung silhouette and dramatic butterfly doors. The design is enhanced further by vertical lighting elements, crystal fluted detailing, and a 3D illuminated grille, while the body panels are finished in light Gilded Pearl paint.
Inside, the Opulent Velocity marries cutting-edge technology with high-end materials, plus 3D-printed components. The 2+2 seating layout is complemented by a fully digital cockpit and a race-inspired Y-shaped steering wheel.
As GM moves towards full electrification across its light-duty vehicle fleet by 2035, the message communicated by the Cadillac Opulent Velocity concept seems crystal clear – batteries and electric motors provide fertile ground for the future of both luxury and performance.

Definitely more of an actual concept than the Sollei, but based on the size, I think this is probably riding on the same basic platform as the Celestiq / Sollei likely hinting that this could eventually be a production model (albeit without the crazy concept bits).

In this kind of segment you are going to be buying a car that is more concept than anything. Low volume and high prices let them do things that are just a bit on the edge.
The key is just do not rebody a Corvette again.

A design concept but possibly a preview of an upcoming model as well. Cadillac needs to go upmarket to survive.
A Motor Authority article talking about this vehicle theorizes that because Chinese mass-market luxury EVs are crowding out foreign luxury brands, it’s forcing those foreign brands even further up market where brands like BYD, Nio, and Zeekr currently aren’t putting their resources.
I totally get that. But, consumers aren't used to Cadillac being in that space. And I can imagine that this would create a void in GM's lineup. Does GM intend on moving Buick more upmarket to replace Cadillac'S current space??? I think I remember reading one time that decades ago, Buick was the doctors brand...

Wish they would build the Cadillac’s that are available NOW! We’ve have a 2025 CT5-V ordered through the local dealer (Uebelhor Cadillac, Vincennes, IN) since June 3, 2024 and not even a production date yet.
Why doesn’t Cadillac finish executing what they have instead of teasing us with concepts that will never become reality? I am sitting in a ‘24 Lyric that doesn’t have a HUD and still doesn’t have the promised software for V2H power.
Because the designers who draw up concepts are not the same people and the coders working on the software.
