General Motors is getting ready to introduce the all-new 2024 Chevy Aveo in Mexico, where Chevrolet’s redesigned subcompact will be the country’s most equipped entry-level car.
The automaker announced that all-new 2024 Chevy Aveo will offer a unique value proposition in the Mexican market, thanks to a comprehensive list of safety equipment and class-leading technology offered as standard. These newfound features will complement the new generation of the nameplate, which also introduces a new five-door hatchback variant, to make it the best Aveo offered so far in Mexico.
In particular, the all-new 2024 Chevy Aveo will boast class-leading safety features that include six airbags on all trim levels, four-wheel disc brakes with antilock braking, a tire pressure monitoring system, a seat belt reminder in all positions, as well as reverse camera and sensors from the base trim up. GM Mexico affirms that these attributes place it as a benchmark for safety in its segment.
In addition, from a technology and connectivity standpoint, the all-new 2024 Chevy Aveo will offer an 8-inch infotainment touchscreen for the first time, along with Bluetooth, AM/FM radio and a USB port, in addition to Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration. The interior convenience package is completed by a four-speaker audio system and air conditioning with automatic single-zone control.
Mechanically, the 2024 Chevy Aveo’s powertrain consists of a naturally aspirated 1.5L four-cylinder engine that develops 98 horsepower and 105 pound-feet of torque. The engine can be mated to a six-speed manual transmission in base variants, or a continuously variable automatic transmission that simulates six fixed gears on higher-end trims.
The all-new 2024 Chevy Aveo in five-door hatchback configuration will be officially launched in Mexico in the coming weeks, followed soon after by the sedan variant. Both will be available with LS Manual, LT Manual and LT Plus trim levels, as well as an eye-catching color palette and a bunch of customizing accessories to suit customers’ tastes.

Why isn't this car available in the US, as many people would like a new car, but simply cannot afford the high prices of vehicles available here?

probably doesn't meet our safety/crash/emissions requirements, or maybe the volumes don't justify the expense of completing those tests
Mexico will use US and Canadaa Standards by 2024, they passed a law to upgrade their regulations to meet the US Criteria, everything from side-markers (which are in almost every MXDM vehicle already) to crash test according to the FMVSS.
So it will have to pass those regulations after 2024, thats why it new vehicles in Mexico have 6 airbags, esp, tpms and a reverse camera as standard.
If people travel back and forth between the two countries the thing meets our standards.
It's made in China, for one. Besides, the new Trax is priced lower than the last one so it should serve the entry-level market just fine.
They tried selling the previous version here already as the Sonic. It obviously wasn't setting the world on fire.
4 door hatch looks like it was designed to be next Opel Corsa. PSA never used the design and who got what intellectual property was never discussed.
Opel would have stopped loosing money sooner if it had shared more with Chevrolet. I realize Aveo would have been the Karl/Viva but the lines look quit similar to the current design language of Opel.
It's more like an unused (or not-yet-used) Wuling design. The headlights are similar to their SUVs and MPVs, but the grille is different, probably for Chevy branding.
Are you suggesting that Europeans wanted more of a Chevrolet design? I have my doubts.
GM, since the mid 90s, stopped caring what Europeans drivers wanted. I do think, like Ford & Hyandai, that GM could have done far better building world cars that had universally appealing exterior design with unique driving dynamics par market.
New Trax could have done well in Europe. Same for Chinese Encore & Envision. The upcoming EVs, especially the Electras, would have done nicely rebadged as Opel.
They made these for US market until 2011. Had mine for 12 years. Best car i ever had. Wonder of i can go to Mexico and buy another and drive it home .
