Chevy Tahoe And Suburban Recalled For Third-Row Seat Belt Buckle Issue

General Motors has issued a recall for certain examples of the 2021 and 2022 model year Chevy Tahoe and Chevy Suburban full-size SUVs due to an issue related to the third-row seat belt.

The problem: in affected vehicles, the rivet that retains the buckle to the mounting bracket in the left or right side third-row seatbelt buckle assembly may not have been properly formed during the manufacturing process.

The hazards: if the third-row seatbelt assembly is not properly riveted, then it may be unable to properly restraint occupants in the event of a crash, increasing the risk of injury.

The fix: dealer technicians will be instructed to inspect the third-row seatbelt assembly rivet points and replace the seatbelt buckle assembly if necessary. These repairs will be performed at no cost to the vehicle owner.

• 2021-2022 Chevy Tahoe
• 2021-2022 Chevy Suburban

Number of affected vehicles: GM did not say how many Chevy Tahoe and Suburban units are affected by this particular issue.

Owners should: owners of affected GM SUVs will be contacted by the automaker and instructed to make an appointment with their dealer. Unsold vehicles still in dealership inventory will be placed under a stop-sale order until the relevant repairs are performed.
