Chevy Traverse One Of The Best CPO Three-Row Crossovers, Says KBB

The 2020 Chevy Traverse has been determined to be one of the best certified pre-owned three-row crossovers by the automotive editors at Kelley Blue Book.

KBB recently published a list of the ten best certified pre-owned three-row crossovers available for less than $30,000 on its site, with the 2020 Chevy Traverse appearing fourth on the list behind the 2017 Toyota Highlander, 2019 Honda Pilot and 2019 Mazda CX-9. KBB editors appreciated the Traverse’s spacious cabin, smart interior packaging, decent maximum towing capacity and its hidden front storage compartment.

“Seating for up to eight and minivan-like ease of access make the 2020 Chevrolet Traverse an attractive option for those who aren’t looking to go off-roading or haul a large boat — although the Traverse can tow up to 5,000 pounds,” the publication said. “A SmartSlide second-row seat makes access to the third row easier than in most SUVs. Chevrolet added another clever feature: The infotainment screen hides a secret storage compartment.”

The Toyota Highlander was ranked first on this list thanks to the Japanese automaker’s reputation for reliability, while the Honda Pilot was second thanks to its spacious interior and car-like driving characteristics. The Mazda CX-9 also earned praise from editors for its handsome exterior styling, refinement and build quality.

The Chevy Traverse was originally set to receive a model refresh for the 2021 model year, but as a result of complications arising from the COVID-19 pandemic, the model refresh was delayed by a year to 2022. The 2020 model year Traverse mentioned in this ranking is a pre-refresh model, contributing to its reasonable value on the second-hand market.

The current 2023 model year Chevy Traverse continues with the same naturally aspirated 3.6L V6 LFY gasoline engine, rated at 310 horsepower at 6,800 rpm and 266 pound-feet of torque at 2,800 rpm. The V6 mates to the GM 9-speed automatic transmission. The Traverse also rides on the long-wheelbase variant of the GM C1 platform, with production taking place at the GM Lansing Delta Township plant in Michigan.

  • One of the best vehicles I've ever owned. On my 3rd Traverse because of the power, ride, MPG, room, styling (Redline Ed), and safety.

    • I love my 2013 Traverse with 130K miles on it. It’s been one of the best vehicles I’ve ever owned. I would definitely buy another one. I bought this one used with 37K on it.

  • I’m so impressed with the interior layout and seating design, no more back breaking removal when I need extra cargo space. Just this week I was giving a quick tour of my 2019 to a complete stranger that was admiring my Rally Sport model. Best purchase I’ve made in years. And it’s giving me the same mileage that my old 2009 Montana was giving me, can’t complain about that.
