2022 Chevy Bolt EV Rated At 120 MPGe Combined

General Motors introduced the refreshed 2022 Chevy Bolt EV in February, dropping in with a sixth model year for the first-generation vehicle. Now, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has unveiled the latest estimated “fuel economy” figures for the refreshed Bolt EV.

According to the latest EPA figures, the refreshed 2022 Chevy Bolt EV is rated at 131 MPGe in the city, 109 MPGe on the highway, and 120 MPGe combined.

2022 Chevy Bolt EV - EPA MPGe Figures
Driving Cycle 2022 Bolt EV 2021 Bolt EV Difference
City 131 127 +4
Highway 109 108 +1
Combined 120 118 +2

These figures make the refreshed 2022 model year slightly more efficient than the previous 2021 model year, which is rated at 127 MPGe in the city, 108 MPGe on the highway, and 118 MPGe combined. The new figures also make the 2022 Bolt EV more efficient than the all-new 2022 Chevy Bolt EUV, which is rated at 125 MPGe in the city, 104 MPGe on the highway, and 115 MPGe combined, as GM Authority covered previously.

For readers unfamiliar with the EPA’s MPGe efficiency ratings, MPGe stands for miles per gallon of gasoline-equivalent. Essentially, MPGe is just like the standard MPG ratings used for gasoline-powered vehicles, but rather than estimating vehicle range per gallon of gasoline, MPGe applied to electric vehicles estimates the number of miles a vehicle can travel on the energy equivalent of a single gallon of gasoline (or 33.7 kWh of electricity).

The refreshed 2022 Chevy Bolt EV introduces a revised exterior design with a brand-new fascia front and back, including new LED headlights, a new grille, and black Bow Tie badges. The refresh also includes new instrument panels and controls in the cabin, including a 10.2-inch diagonal infotainment color touchscreen and integrated climate controls.

As for the powertrain specs, the 2022 Chevy Bolt EV features a 65 kWh lithium-ion battery pack, which provides electrons for a front-mounted electric motor. Range per charge is rated at 259 miles, per GM and EPA estimates.

    • Haha changed her name to a different Hotel..... Unfortunately Melania - in the 'woke' states where the gov't exerts undue pressure on Investor owned utilities, I fear your prediction is accurate..... But the idiots would cause the same blackouts without any evs.

One misconception people in general might have is the extremely little electricity the vast majority of evs used - especially if charged overnight.

  • Nice.
Still needs a small engine for range extension.
The minimum cars should be able to get nowadays is 500 miles.
My Ford Fusion Hybrid gets anywhere between 525 and 625 miles on a tank. And even then I fuel up more than once per day (since you don't actually fuel up when the tank is empty, and neither will you charge an electric car at 0% charge).

    • just avoid frequent exposure to gasoline fumes during filling up.. it causes cancer! Read the little white square black bordered sign on side of every gas pump..

  • How much should I pay for a 2020 Bolt Premier, new, 6 miles??????? thanks for your ideas!!!
