Next-Generation 2017 Opel-Vauxhall Insignia Spied Testing Once Again

The next-generation 2017 Opel-Vauxhall Insignia program is moving right along, as the car has already been spied the car once before. Not only will Europe be graced with the 2017 Insignia under Opel and Vauxhall badges, but it will be a truly global model. Buick will receive the vehicle as the 2017 Regal in the U.S. and China, and the car will head down under to become the 2018 Holden Commodore.

There’s a still a slim possibility we will see an even more extended wheelbase bow for the 2018 Commodore to make for an ever better fitting replacement for the limousine-like VF Holden Commodore. The car is already riding on General Motors’ E2XX platform, allowing it to stretch its legs a bit more than the current-generation car.

Autocar captured the car testing in its home country of Germany, and the publication speculates the car is, at most, 15 months away from a public debut. This time next year at the 2016 Paris Motor Show seems like a good possibility.

Styling is expected to follow Opel’s latest direction, taking cues from the Monza show car, and adapting consumer preferences for the various markets it will be sold in.

In Europe, it’s expected the car will debut with the new 1.6-liter CDTi diesel engine, to replace the current 2.0-liter CDTi unit. Expect each engine to be paired to either a six-speed manual transmission, or eight-speed automatic unit.

  • I can just imagine the 1.6L turbodiesel 4-cyl engine used in cars like Chevy's Cruze and Buick's Encore or possibly even in Chevy's Volt.

  • So GM are replacing our Commodore known as the SS to you guys stateside with a FWD 4cyl lift back and they think Commodore enthusiasts will buy it? BAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAH "takes a breath" BAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. This car will be the end of Holden and you can take that to the bank.

  • I think Paris 2016. is 99% sure option for Insignia.
Frankfurt 2017. is too late, also Opel already started with testing Insignia on roads, so it would be too long for them to testi it for over 2 years. That information was presented from someone who has no idea about Opel probably.
Also what I would consider is London Motor show in May 2016., but like less likely option for sure.
