General Motors has determined that safety and technology tops the lists of important considerations for Buick customers, which is why the brand will include a rearview camera as standard equipment for all its 2015 models.
“Rear backup cameras have become like power windows and air conditioning,” says senior analyst for Kelley Blue Book, Karl Brauer. “While they’re not standard on every car, yet, it’s rare to operate a new vehicle without them. The increased confidence these cameras provide make them a must-have feature.”
Another standard Buick safety feature is OnStar Automatic Crash Response. In an accident, a specially trained Emergency Advisor is connected to the vehicle the moment a crash is detected. If the driver requests help or can’t answer, emergency responders are sent to the precise location via GPS. This feature requires a subscription after six months.
Additional (and optional) active safety technologies to prevent collisions are Buick’s Forward Collision Alert, Side Blind Zone Alert, Lane Departure Warning, and Rear Cross Traffic Alert. They are available on every 2015 Buick.
“We know our customers are very safety conscious,” says U.S. vice president of Buick and GMC, Duncan Aldred. “The current Buick lineup holds many safety accolades, but we are always pushing to be at the forefront with our vehicles being among the safest available.”

Surprised to see Buick doing this before Cadillac
They will all have it very soon. Even the cheap cars.
The car manufacturers love these gizmos. Every time they add one of these $5.00 parts, it's an excuse to raise the vehicle price by an extra $100.
That is not the case here as it is not a $5 option.
The real reason we are seeing these are the fact if the MFG do not make them standard the Government would have enforce a new law to install them and God knows what else they would have added to the law.
This was more a preemptive strike than it was for any profit.
The government has added to the cost of a car more than anyone. In some cases it has done some good but in others it has wasted our money.
From a luxury perspective, the more bells and whistles, the better Cadillac is.
Provided Cadillac offered the cameras as standard. Foolish that GM isn't.
