In honor of Black History Month, Buick and Samaritan’s Feet co-hosted a foot washing at the Charles H. Wright museum in Detroit. The duo also provided 290 pairs of shoes to Detroit area school children. This is Buick’s fourth consecutive year working with Samaritan’s Feet.
“Samaritan’s Feet is thankful for the wonderful team at Buick,” said Emmanuel “Manny” Ohonme, founder, president and CEO of Samaritan’s Feet. “We are able to impact thousands of lives through our continued Buick partnership in the local communities that their employees reach out to. I had a wonderful time personally serving my friends in Detroit.”
According to the World Health Organization, approximately 2 billion (with a “b”) people around the world are infected with parasitic diseases transmitted through polluted soil that could be prevented by wearing proper shoes. It’s because of this epidemic that Samaritan’s Feet has dedicated their time to cover the feet of 10 million shoe-less children around the world in 10 years.
Samaritan’s Feet has teamed up with Buick in several other cities including New Orleans, Houston, Chicago and Atlanta. The organization has donated over 15,000 pairs of shoes.
