That blacked out waterfall grill is soooo much better than the toothy tin grin one!
I'm a huge fan of this car, and agree that this new blacked out razor grill is a good update. Personally, I think Opel's grill suits that car far better and wish Buick would ditch the waterfall.
I am bummes that this car stopped selling once Verano hit lots. This has a lot to do with price point. Also, half the nation has a nasty image of 90-2005 Regal. Buick should have ran with Insignia or even called the car Invicta.
Regal is the best car in the GM stable.
Agree, should have been the Buick Insignia here in NA, but in China it was going to be the Regal, so that's what we got. Remember China is what Buick is all about, for example the Verano, (Excelle GT in China) is one of the best selling cars in China! The Regal is a fine car though, and a very good value as used car. A 2012 GS can be had for $27-28K, with the lower trim levels well below that.
I own a 2008 Saturn AURA XR w. the 3.6 engine and absolutely LOVE this car. As most readers here probably know, the Regal was originally intended to be the 2nd Gen. Saturn AURA before GM folded Saturn's tent.
The updates to, and options available for the 2014 Regal, are outstanding. Unfortunately, a fully loaded AWD turbo with Intellilink, sunroof, and the safety options such as backup camera, lane departure warning, collision detection, adaptive cruise control (I don't "think" these will be standard equipment) will push the Regal into the mid $40k territory.
I'm hoping that a lot of these safety additions will be standard equipment as I believe the refreshed 2014 Regal will be a real contender (for me at least). If they can price the 2014 Regal reasonably and support it with CONSISTENT TV advertising, it could be a bases-loaded home run!
I think the upward price point is good in that it places Regal in line wirh Lexus. I dare say Regal is higher quality sport than anything Lexus sells and Buick must price like a luxury brand. A fully loaded Ford Fusion costs the same, btw.
Had Saturn sold Regal it would have been a stripped down bargin varient on parbwith VW Passat. GM never understood that Saturn was a different type of car company and as such was not bound to conventional segment pricing.
A Saturn with today's Opel line up might have been harmful to Chevy.
The Saturn Aura was a very good car, it just needed a few quality improvements, better steering, a spoiler, and a new transmission. Saturn should have made a RedLine version of this car.
Here's what the 2nd generation Aura should have been:

Heya i am for the primary time here. I found this
board and I in finding It truly useful & it helped me out a lot.
I'm hoping to give one thing back and help others such as you aided me.
I love the new rims. The interior is pretty cool (better than the one before). The rear end is sweet!!!
There should be a coupe and a convertible now. . . .
These should be the Chevrolet Malibu and Buick Regal engines. . .

(ECO Trim Chevrolet Malibu Only) A 2.0L Turbo Diesel I4 with Regen. Braking, 2-Mode Transmission and Plug-In Hybrid Technology. 151HP and 346TQ. 37 mpg City / 48 mpg Hwy in regular mode or 62 mpg City / 77 mpg Hwy for up to 60 miles in Plug-In mode.
The 2.8L Turbo V6 was a great engine, people thought it was slow but I thought it was really fast! It was the fact that it was put into the land-whale Cadillac SRX which is super heavy! Heck any engine put in that car will be slow! The 2.8T in the Saab 9-3 was super fast! Maybe with some tweaking it would be more powerful and economical! I hope it will reach up to 347HP and 359TQ. It could be able to get up to 20 City / 27 Hwy if it had VVT, SIDI, and AFM! Maybe even IVLC! Maybe even boost the displacement up to 3.2L! So it would have 365HP and 381TQ!
