While Ford owns America’s best-selling line of trucks in the F-Series, it can’t hold a candle to what General Motors does in the SUV market. When added up, sales of the Chevrolet Suburban and Tahoe along with the GMC Yukon, Yukon XL, and the Cadillac Escalade line, The General holds a 70-percent stake in the full-sized SUV segment, according to GM North America President Mark Reuss in a Detroit Free Press report. That being the case, the next line of large sport utility vehicles need to have the fortitude to continue that trend, which looks to be happening by the 2014 calender year.
Originally, estimates put the launch of the new full-sized SUV line somewhere in the second half of 2013, beginning with the all-new Chevy Suburban/Tahoe and GMC Yukon/Yukon XL models, with the Escalade following a few months after. This also means that GM may not officially reveal them for quite some time.
Perhaps the 2014 launch will fall in line with a powertrain improvement cadence for all of GM’s K2XX models. The implementation of eight-speed transmissions, perhaps? Our crystal ball says yes.

when are they revealing it !?
That just seems way to long
I've been looking very carefully at spy photos of the Suburban/Tahoe/Escalade ("STE") and comparing them with the Silverado. I've also read one comment that the new STE models acually have fold in seating.
Now go and compare rear shots of the STE with Silverado. I'm currently convinced that the STE will gain independent rear suspension as there is no pumpkin visible on STE in any of the spy shots I've found so far.
Going IRS is the only way GM will gain enough room to create seats that fold awayy=.
With that thought, waiting a year is ok by me as it means another year of testing and proving the strength of the components.
I'll be as happy to be proven wrong on this as I will to be proven right.
Alex, over to you....
Good news for my parents. They just bought a Yukon right before I mentioned that there was a new one coming out. Buyer's remorse came sooner than usual for them (although, they love it!)
Hold off a bit longer, and do it right, not half-baked with the outgoing 6-speed.
I thought those cars were going to make appearance this year.........sad j really wanted to see the escalade
Ouch. I didn't realize they were that far off.
Get rid of the plastic Bumpers on Z71 and pick-ups.. Chevy needs to "man up" with tough Z71's like the 2006 model. I speak with authority as I have owned 3 Z71s.
Ford is wipping chevy's butt with "real trucks".

I have a 2003 z71 Suburban and an going to turn 190k miles soon. Wanted the new generation Z71 but couldn't get past the dash or the chrome on the grill. Really hope they design a tougher looking Z this time around and leave the chrome for the LTZ's Cadillacs! Come on GN!
Always wanted a GMC DENALI but need real 4wd not AWD. Live on a farm and AWD wont cut it. Would be nice if you could get 4WD in a DENALI.
