This Is The First Pre-Production 2014 Chevy Impala

The first pre-production unit of the all-new 2014 Chevy Impala rolled off the line on September 5, 2012 at GM’s Detroit-Hamtramck assembly plant. Looks like it was painted Summit White and was closely followed by a full-production Chevy Volt.

The new Epsilon II-based Impala is finally nearing full-scale production — and we can’t wait to get behind the wheel and take it on a cross-country road trip.

  • Saw the new Imp at an auto show- the car looks awesome. It looks like an Audi or Mercedes. The back looks like a bigger Hyundai Sonata though (compare them). I know Chevy has a two-light design theme, but I wish it had three lights on each side (I'm not buying a Biscayne or Bel-Air, gheez). Probably the best Impala/Caprice since 1991.
Looks way better than the big chunky Taurus. Too bad it's not RWD like the 300.

  • That does look nice. Glad to see they're moving from the hideous front-end (still not great, but improved over recent years)

  • I llike it, too, and it does look better than the older Impala (I rented a 2009 Impala for a week). I am happy that the classic "egg crate" grille has returned.
