General Motors will look to invest $83 million in its Toledo, OH and $32 million into its Bedford, IN Powertrain facilities in order to build transmissions for its Buick and Chevrolet models that will be equipped with the eAssist mild hybrid system. For the plants in Toledo and Bedford, it is a second helping of investment since May, bringing total investment at the plants to $287 million and $81 million, respectively. The Toledo plant will also see 30 jobs added or retained.
Additionally, its Powertrain plant in Wyoming, MI will be seeing a dose of something between $15 to $20 million for enhancements to the die-cast case and torque converter on the transmissions that will end up being assembled in Toledo. 60 jobs are expected to be added or retained as a result.
The sweepstakes closes on December 22nd and the drawing will take place on December 28th.
