Just a bit ago, we told you about the optional Denali Ultimate Package on the all-new 2019 GMC Sierra. The package takes the 2019 Sierra Denali and loads it to the gills with features that include the range-topping 6.2L V8 L87 EcoTec3 engine, four-wheel-drive, the Technology Package, Driver Alert II Package as well as the GMC MultiPro Power Steps.
Assigned GM RPO code ‘BRS’ and often described as “rearward articulating” (we’ll get to this part in a minute), the steps have three general positions:
In all, the MultiPro Power Steps on the 2019 GMC Sierra Denali Ultimate provide easy access in and out of the truck, as well as easy access to the bed from the side of the truck. And when not in use, they sit (almost) flush with the truck, delivering a clear look that’s in some cases may enhance aerodynamics.
Though no videos exist of these steps just yet, we do have this video published by GMC back in 2015 that shows the functionality of the steps on a last-generation 2016 GMC Sierra 1500.
Because of a mounting bolt that's too long.
No other incentives offered on all-new, next-gen three-row crossover.
Limited-run package includes a selection of aesthetic upgrades.

That's weird, because part of Ram's HFE high efficiency package in 2016 (maybe it's still an option?) was running boards, tonneau cover, and small tailgate ducktail spoiler.
Side steps act like side skirts and help keep low pressure air under the truck, or alternatively helps keep high pressure air out from under the truck.
It's similar to the air dam on the lower front bumper and little air fins infront of the wheels, sure it creates drag but it keeps high pressure air out, channels and directs the air better, and reduces turbulent air flow.
It could go either way, depending on the running board. In the case of the Ram, it worked out in their favor (or perhaps they engineered them that way). But most running boards, especially aftermarket units, have very little positive impact on aerodynamic performance.
Will the MultiPro power steps be available as an option on the Sierra 1500 SLT trim as well?
My understanding is that they're only available with the Ultimate Package.
Thanks. I wasn't sure if the power running boards would be available as a stand alone option on the SLT.
No problem. The exact language used (per the order guide) is: "Included with (PEC) Denali Ultimate Package. Not available with any other RPO or LPO assist step."
" the steps automatically deploy downward" this is incorrect. GM's power boards slide in and out as well as toward the rear for bed access. Unfortunately even though GM had a good idea with these, as much as it pains me to say I think Ford and Ram did a better job with their power boards as they actually come down to help you and your passengers climb into the trucks...
They also look better on the Ford and Ram when they are not in use... again it pains me to say this.
Thank you for catching that!
Salesguy is correct, they deploy out and not diwn...
I made the choice of denali ultimate over the at4 package mainly because of the multipro steps. After ~3000 miles I don’t like them much and i find myself stepping over them rather than using them.
Going to look at replacing them with the amp style which “looks” much more pleasing on the trucks I’ve seen (and they deploy downward)
Denali is a fantastic riding pickup but at-4 has it all over Denali in cool-factor!
I bought an AT4 and I thought I had every bell and whistle... Well I stand corrected. I want the Multi-Pro power steps to compliment my Multi-Pro tailgate!
What is the fix when these step start working only intermittently my 2019 HD just started this. It makes it tough getin.g in and out on a 65 year old man
