General Motors Canada Sales Increase 1.8 Percent To 27,638 Units In June 2018

General Motors Company reported 27,638 new vehicle deliveries for June 2018 in Canada, a 1.8 percent increase compared to June 2017. The results represent the company’s best June sales performance since 2011.

Sales increased at Chevrolet, Cadillac, and Buick while decreasing at Cadillac.

“Customer response to our fresh new line-up of GM trucks, SUVs and cars, all with leading technology, was outstanding once again in June,” said Scott Bell, vice-president, sales, service and marketing for GM Canada. “We have Canada’s best dealership network and together we plan to build upon this momentum in the second half of 2018.”

General Motors sales overview:

  • Total sales increased 1.8 percent or 487 units to 27,638 units:
  • In a demonstration of either significant stupor or great wisdom, GM Canada declined to provide us with a retail sales breakout for June 2017. As such, we are unable to provide specific year-over-year comparisons. However, we can provide the following retail sales info:
    • Retail sales increased 9.8 percent to 21,259 vehicles, representing 76.9 percent of total June 2018 sales:
      • Chevrolet retail sales increased 3.5 percent to 11,705 units, its best June retail sales performance since 2013
      • Cadillac retail sales increased 1.3 percent to 1,067 units, its best June retail sales performance since 2016
      • Buick retail sales increased 9.1 percent to 1,661 units, its best June retail sales performance since 2016
      • GMC retail sales decreased 5.3 percent to 6,826 units
    • Fleet sales totaled 6,379 vehicles, representing 23.1 percent of total June 2018 sales

Chevrolet sales increased 6.6 percent to 15,926 units, representing its best June sales performance since 2011 and its best June retail sales performance since 2013:

Cadillac sales increased 6.3 percent to 1,171 units, representing its best June sales performance ever and its best June retail sales performance since 2016:

Buick sales increased 12.5 percent to 1,773 units, representing its best June sales performance since 2016 and best June retail sales performance since 2016:

GMC sales decreased 8 percent to 8,768 units:

In the first six months of 2018, GM Canada sales increased 1.8 percent to 154,937 units:

  • Chevrolet sales in the first six months of 2018 increased 6.5 percent to 91,327 units, representing its best first half sales performance since 2007 and best first half retail sales performance in 201 years
  • Cadillac sales in the first six months of 2018 decreased 6.5 percent to 5,991 units
  • Buick sales in the first six months of 2018 decreased 6.13 percent to 8,613 units
  • GMC sales in the first six months of 2018 decreased 0.3 percent to 49,006 units

  1. GM Canada sales would increase even more if they made more cars in Canada and less in USA..
