Hot Rod magazine made a name for itself when it created the now iconic “F-Bomb” Chevrolet Camaro, which it began all the way back in 2007. The car has become instantly recognizable by the Hot Rod crowd, and today we bring you a special in-depth look of the birth of the vehicle courtesy of NRE TV.
The mini-series comes in two parts, with this being the first. The video has already made its way around the internets since 2008, but we figured they may be a few people who may not know the backstory on this incredible car. You see, Hot Rod was on a mission. The mission’s goal? Create a daily-driver, grocery getting Chevrolet Camaro that is still able to the make 8-second 1/4 mile passes. Lofty, we know.
Somehow the team manages though. The end result is a 1973 Camaro pushing 1,540-horsepower (!) and 1,527 pound-feet of torque (!!) through its 406 cubic-inch twin-turbo V8. Those specs are a mouthful, but the results will leave you speechless after seeing the “F-bomb” make a few passes on the dragstrip. The car even made a guest appearance in Fast & Furious as one of the many bad guys’ get away cars.
