Chevrolet Announces Special Edition Agile Effect For Latin America

Chevrolet has announced a special edition of its Agile hatchback for Central and South American markets. The special edition model is called Agile Effect and brings a sport appearance package to the subcompact entry-level vehicle.

Codeveloped with the updated 2014 Agile, the Agile Effect starts off as in the top-end LTZ trim level, then adds 16-inch alloy “graphite-look” wheels, tinted headlights, a roof-top spoiler, blacked-out rearview mirrors and rear bumper cover applique, as well as a body kit in the front, side, and rear. Side emblems reading “effect” are applied to the C-pillar, while a black sticker runs the length of the doors on either side of the vehicle. Inside, red accents adorn the seats, door panels, flat-bottom sport steering wheel, and dashboard. The special edition model will be offered exclusively in Summit White and Red Chili hues.

The 1.4-liter (Family 1) flex-fuel engine continues to be the exclusive powerplant of the Agile and Agile Effect, delivering 92 horsepower at 6,000 RPM. Meanwhile, segment-exclusive technology includes cruise control, automatic lights, and onboard computer.

Pricing for the Agile Effect will start at $123,000 Argentine Pesos ($17,800 U.S. Dollars based on current exchange rates). The vehicle carries a 2-year manufacturer warranty unlimited by mileage.

To note, the Agile is based on GM’s modified Gamma II vehicle architecture also used for the Montana/Tornado pickup, South American-market Cobalt sedan and Spin MPV, as well as the Onix subcompact hatchback and its sedan variant, the Prisma. The Chevrolet Sonic/Aveo serves as the architecture’s flagship vehicle, with the Sonic Dusk and Sonic RS — which features a sporty body kit similar to what’s found on the Agile Effect — serving as the flagship vehicles of the Sonic line.
