The No. 19 NASCAR Chevy Silverado RST of Christian Eckes led the most laps at the Milwaukee Mile on August 25th, 2024, but he didn’t have a victory to show for it when the checkered flag waved. He was credited with a third-place finish when it was all said and done.
Eckes’ No. 19 NASCAR Chevy Silverado showed the way for 71 laps, winning Stage 2, marking his ninth stage win of the season – the best of the field. He surrendered the lead when the race restarted for Stage 3, and try as he might, he couldn’t track down the Fords of Layne Riggs and Ty Majeski as the laps ticked down. It was his sixth consecutive top-three finish, but he was understandably disappointed in himself after scoring yet another podium finish instead of a victory.
“I was leading on the bottom and it shot up the race track and just couldn’t recover, I was way too tight,” said Eckes. “Proud of everybody, but a pretty big missed opportunity.”
Nick Sanchez finished fourth in the No. 2 NASCAR Chevy Silverado, followed by Taylor Gray’s No. 17 Toyota TRD Tundra. Riggs guided the No. 38 Ford F-150 to Victory Lane for his first division win. However, he was so excited about his victory that he dislocated his shoulder while celebrating, prompting his crew to pop it back into the socket on the racetrack.
Eckes currently holds the points lead, 16 points ahead of Majeski and 19 points ahead of Corey Heim, driver of the No. 11 Tundra. The race at Milwaukee marked the first of the Truck Series Playoffs, with six races left in the season.
