Iran Approves Importation Of Opel Vehicles

The Iranian Ministry of Industry has approved the importation of vehicles manufactured by General Motors’ European subsidiary, Opel.

According to a report from an Iranian publication, only two models — the Corsa and Adam with engine smaller than 2,500 cc (2.5L) — are on the approved list. The vehicles will be imported by a third-party company called Tavan Khodro Jey Co., and both models will have engines smaller than 1,400 cc (1.4L).

General Motors has not directly operated in Iran for years, mostly due Iran’s economic instability as well as various political concerns and sanctions imposed by the West.
