You may have already seen the changes and updates in store for the 2016 Buick Enclave, but have you seen its color palette?
In total, the 2016 Enclave offers ten colors ranging from white to black, and from red to grey. Only one of the ten — Summit White — is free (or included in the price of the car), while the other nine are premium colors that carry an additional charge.

Is paying to have a new car painted a reasonable way to buy? I would not buy a new car that I needed to pay for the color I wanted.
I agree with you, for the most part. For instance, there needs to be a "free" white on Cadillacs alongside the $1,000 white hue.
I don't mind them charging and me paying for the *truly* premium colors that go above and beyond the standard ones. But the key is to actually offer the standard ones in the first place.
Buick Enclave and Chevrolet Traverse are neither one attractive, no matter what color they come in!!! Thank goodness do not see many of them on the road!!

Summit White is not "free", it is just not additional cost
Buick (and all GM cars) need more colors that are included in the basic price of the vehicle
First they tell us that future Buicks will probably come out of China and now this. What General Motors is really trying to do is kill off Buick/GMC to be left with Chevy/Cadillac, they just don't want to be blunt about it and come out and actually say it. :(

Probably not fair to judge, when all they did was take the exact same photo, not light it correctly, and Photoshop-in a variety of badly-lit colors.
Like, black looks good in real life, but it looked dirty-grey in the commercial where the guy pre-starts his car from a plane (landing in winter), and the 24-hour test-drive looks unattractive, too. And the colour palette overall, feels kind of cheap - maybe the South Korean and/or Chinese influence. But it's hard to tell, since the lighting's bad, and the car is 15 metres from
the camera.
I'd take Sherwood green w a darker tan leather interior, or that deep Navy Mercedes any day. Why does GM and Asia lean on these food-court neon colors?

Yeah, that would probably been the better idea. But they had to be stupid and itemize it so that it pisses people off having to "pay" for all colors and even more fore premium which was already the case.
So, every color costs extra except white? On a $45k+ vehicle, you're going to nickle and dime the customer on paint? How about just raising the base price a few hundred dollars instead... seems less insulting! Seriously, the only colors that should ever cost extra are the metallic tri-coat white, and the tint coat metallic reds (and a no upcharge red should be available at all times as well). Colors like silver or blue are not "premium". They are charging extra for colors that are not extra cost on Chevys. If Buick wants to position themselves as a premium choice, this is not the way to do it.
But have you looked at how the Germans price colors? 1-3 free, the rest are for a fee. is there something to that strategy?
You know , I look at this classic design and wonder why Buick didn't just make a mid size CUV with identical design cues . All of the missed sales , wow , both designs feeding off the other , keeping the customer with the Buick product line.....sad really , to see such an unforgivably missed opportunity !!
Most "premium" paint colors (Amethyst, Chocoloate Brown, Iridium and maybe Twilight) have the shelf life of a year, to be replaced by something else in MY 2017.
I enjoy different colors, but dealers don't, because it takes a specific person to buy that color, and if that person doesn't see it in person or find it online, it sits in inventory for a long time. So, as a dealier, why order it when you can sell one of the more conventional colors a lot quicker?
And, the vicious circle begins because they aren't ordered, they aren't on the showroom floor, so someone who may really love the brown color and maybe even buy it because of that color, never sees it, and will have no idea...Gm web pictures usually aren't a great representation either.
Case in point, there are about 3 2015 Camaros in dark green on the nearby lot. They've been there since Spring, and the red, black, even garnet colors have sold, but for a couple...though all the green ones remain.
So, those colors are there mainly for factory orders, which is fine.
GM is acting like Henry Ford :
"Any color as long as it's black", but with GM it's white.
