Someone Carved A Pontiac Firebird Trans Am Out Of Wood: Video

Built and produced between the 1967 and 2002 model years, the Pontiac Firebird was available over the course of four generations and continues to delight enthusiasts today. Now, one talented woodworker has recreated this classic pony car as a scale model, as seen in the following video.

Coming to us from the Awesome Woodcraft YouTube channel, the video is a little over 12 minutes long and shows the process behind the creation of this second-gen Pontiac Firebird Trans Am woodcarving. Produced between 1970 and 1981, the second-gen model introduced new styling that cemented the “look” of the F-body for years to come, and is characterized by a wide, horizontal front end, square air inlets, curved coupe roofline, and extended hoodline.

All of these features and more are captured by this impressive Pontiac Firebird Trans Am wood carving, with additional details revealed the further you dig into it. The video is pretty straightforward, showing the viewer all the steps that went into the model’s creation. The video does not include any music or narration, with the only sound provided being the sawing, chiseling, sanding, and hammering needed to put this thing together.

The Pontiac Firebird Trans Am wood carving kicks off with the profile, with the two-door’s silhouette carved out in mirrored blocks. The front end is then chiseled out from a block of wood sandwiched between the two halves, followed by the roof and hood. With the overall structure in place, details and more nuanced curves are then put in place, such as the shape of the bumper, the headlights, the fenders, the rear spoiler, and of course, the iconic hood decal.

In addition, the carving also includes details like a liftable hood hinge and V8 engine model, four rolling wheels and tires, suspension components, and a full interior complete with opening doors, a dash, a center console, seats, and more.

Indeed, this Pontiac Trans Am Firebird model looks great, and it’s fun to see it come to life. Check it out for yourself in the video below:
