I have an XTS Platinum on order since April. It seems that they have started the Standard trim level and possibly up to the Premium trim level production. Anybody know when they will begin building the Platinum trim levels? Thanks!

Just found out that apparently GM spec XTSs will be arriving at dealers sometime this coming week (June 11 on) according to dealers I checked with. Customer ordered XTSs (like mine from April 17th) have still not been started.

I think you can check that one new website where it tells you the status of how your car is built and you can check it out from then to see it.

I do check that website and it shows only the current status of an order, in my case that it was placed on April 17th and accepted, but that is it. There has been no change to the status since then. The site does not give you any data as to when they will be building your order until the status of the order changes.

Just sat in an XTS Platinum in the local dealership while I was purchasing my new CTS; I have to say that the XTS is so much better in person than it looked in the car magazines. This car has great presence!

It has been a few weeks since my platinum xts moved to 3200 and no further word. The status tracking site has been down for at least the last week.

The status tracking site is back up but at least for my XTS order it has not been updated since July 9th. It shows my April order was moved to 3300 on June 28th.

@XTSJWD That’s strange… let’s see if I can get someone at GM to chime in on this.

      Hello All!

Per my resources here at GM, the Cadillac XTS production started sometime in May. Customer orders arriving to dealer lots takes an estimated 6-12 weeks after start of production.

Some variables that may affect timing include: Availability of Vehicle Options – as some are designated as late availability, Transport Distance, and Production Sequencing (Order of Build).

      I hope this was helpful!

Please let me know if you have any other questions!

Thanks Brandon. It seems like there has been a hold on XTS production judging from my own experience and others’ postings on their respective orders.

Hi Vic1212- thanks. The XTS drives incredibly smoothly, assuredly and strongly (ie: plenty of power). The CUE is impressive. I have only driven it today for a couple of ‘shortish’ trip so admittedly my comments are very initial impressions. My guests found the seating extremely comfortable and roomy. The HUD is great. My head is still ‘spinning’ from trying to absorb it all, but absolutely no regrets or concerns. It is clearly the best of the 7 Cadillacs I have owned (all the rest were STSs, a mix of Northstar, V8 and V6s), and some of them including my last were exceptionally fine cars. More to come after I have logged some miles and smiles on SilverFox :-c

Some additional comments on initial driving impressions of SilverFox: There is nothing I found in the manual nor suggested when I picked it up regarding a break-in period. I have not pushed it at all and don’t intend on doing that for a number of miles; basically treating it like I have broken in my other cars. However the speed gets up there very quickly, especially since the cabin is so quiet and isolated. I did try out the manual mode with the paddles on the steering wheel and found it quite effective. When you put it in manual mode, it also changes the magnetic dampening system to “sport”. :-c

California!!!! The highway is kind of like Germany’s autobahn

    • #40490
      xtsjwd

Nice try @Vic1212 😉 Having driven the autobahn a number of times, 15 into California isn’t at all ‘kind of like it.’ For example, in Germany you only go into the left lane to pass, whereas many Californians think the left lane is the only lane to drive in. On the autobahn you have legitimate places where you can open the car up, in California my Escort starts alerting as soon as I leave Primm and is ‘smokin’ from so many X band and POP hits in California. So when SilverFox is ready the desert will be for some nice safe high speed runs, but in the interim a trip to the ocean might just be in order. I will have to see when I can fit it in. :-c

Well I said that California is like the autobahn because everybody just drive as fast as they can so people would probably need a high horsepower car to drive there to keep up like how we did with our SRX V8. When we visit there we technically just drive the SRX there since we have to keep up with other people there or else it would be kind of hard to pass other people.

I’m baaaack 🙂 My XTS, SilverFox, is a fantastic car in all regards. I have several hundred miles on it so far, but no road trip yet (no time). Here is a link to some pictures I took last night to try and show the array of both interior and exterior lights it has. All were shot without flash. While they do not do justice to the great job GM has done with this car, I think you can see both the bright white LEDs as well as the softer defining interior LEDs (like those that separate the wood from the leather on the dash and doors). http://s1163.photobucket.com/albums/q551/jdphotog/SilverFox%20night%20shots/
