ParticipantInitiate a chat on chevrolet.com. You will be prompted through the chat to check on your order status. You will need your order number which your dealer can provide to you. We ordered our Suburban December 5th and our status is that a production target date has not been determined for our vehicle. Good Luck!

ParticipantMy dealer had to manually go in the system and move my truck to the top of list after it sat for 3.5 months on the ‘order accepted but not scheduled’ list. It sat there for 10 days and now it has been scheduled to be built week of Feb 15th. Maybe have it by fist of March.
Ordered 10/20/20! Lots of constraints on options and parts right now. Too bad the dealer won’t help you out. You may have to call the sales manager as the regular dealers don’t really know the order system well enough to help you. -

ParticipantGood luck on that, I ordered a 2021 Trail Boss LT on Nov 23,2020 was told 6 to 8 weeks, I have not seen the truck, got my order number from dealership to check on build date and was told Jan 15,2021, still no truck, every time I check on it my build date it keeps getting pushed back , talked to dealer and they told me sometime in Feb, still no truck my build date has been pushed back and now says Feb 22,2021,I am very frustrated with this and my dealer does not know anything, says that they can’t get trucks for the dealership, they keep telling me Covid and to some degree i can see that but i also see that GM has fully employed part time workers and is expanding, I looked online and the info i got was it takes 24 hrs to build a complete truck and one rolls off assembly line every minute , said they build 1000 plus trucks in 24 hrs! Don’t understand all this confusion but I am trying to be patient but I am to the point that I am getting a little frustrated, I have miss incentives that would help my purchase!

ParticipantMy problem is specifically the gas motor, there are very few scheduled to be built with the 6.6 gas motor, they just don’t have enough only 266 scheduled to be built with 6.6 gas. Not sure what is causing your delay. It takes like 30 man hours to build a truck, so yeah there are lots of them being built just not mine or yours. Hopefully it’s gets better. Good Luck!

ParticipantUpdate on our 12/5/2020 order of a 2021 z71 suburban. feb 15 got this reply while checking order status online. “I can see that your vehicle with the order# XXXXXX is at the Event Description is 1100- Preliminary Order Accepted. I am unable to see any Target Production Weeks for orders with a status of 3000 right now. We expect each order to be assigned a more accurate Target Production Week once it reaches 3300-Scheduled for Production. We recommend that you reach back out in 3 to 4 weeks for an update. It is unlikely that we will have any new information before then.”
Given the power issues in Texas, the chip shortage situation (we ordered the max trailering package which looked to be affected) and seeing stories of Suburban/Tahoe orders being cancelled we called our dealer today. Our salesman (of course we were on his list to call) told us we have a tentative manufacturing date of early April. I don’t know where his info came from or why our truck is still in 1100 status but for some reason I have hope again. Could be I’m just delusional though?

ParticipantHow long to even get the dealer to call you to actually get an order number assigned?
Order number assigned seems to be the first hurdle.
C8 2022. Supposedly no order assigned until at least fall

ParticipantWe ordered our 2021 Suburban Z71 on 12/5/2020. We took delivery on 5/19/2021. There was an issue with the production process and the incorrect build was sent to the dealer on 3/24/2020 and we had to go back into production.
FIRST BUILD-
1/22/2021 Received order number from dealer and chevy chat reported at 1100 production code
3/3/2021 3000 accepted by the plant target production week of 3/15
3/17/2021 3400 order broadcast for production
3/24/2021 notified by dealer build was incorrect
SECOND BUILD-
4/10/2021 1100
4/22/2021 3000 target week 5/3/2021
5/7/2021 vehicle produced and waiting for transportation to dealerWe were told by the dealer the second build went into the factory at a high priority and I tend to believe that. We were also told when we took delivery that our vehicle wasn’t able to be ordered with our options anymore and that we just squeaked in under the wire. Apparently, the max trailering package uses the chip that is in a world wide shortage. Good luck all!

ParticipantOrdered a 2021 Yukon Denali XL 06/18/2021
07/02/2021 received code 1100
Description 1100 – Preliminary Order Accepted. This status means that your order has been entered into the system and your dealer is waiting for allocation to match up with your place in line so that it can be submitted to GM. We would recommend speaking with your dealership to receive clarification as to when this may occur with your order as we do not have any additional information.

ParticipantAnyone order a new vehicle because their current vehicle is getting up there in mileage, they have equity, and to avoid getting into repairs, only to be told “don’t expect your 2023 Tahoe before xmas”, and in the meantime have to pay as much as the down payment in repairs on current Tahoe, because of GM’s “crisis” at the “permanently underemployed factory” in Flint, Michigan?
I think it is an absolute scam, and wanting to know if anyone has any lawyer recommendations (authorized to practice in NYS), who can help me?

ParticipantCar buyers are justifiably concerned about “Lot Rot”.
I ordered a 22 Tahoe in February 2022. I was informed the vehicle was “built” in April. However the dealer informed me the vehicle needed to be “repaired” and later was told a recall needed to be handled. My own research indicates that the vehicle is missing an Integrated Circuit (Chip) from Asia. I asked how the vehicle was being stored. I was told it was in “covered” parking. I discovered on a YouTube video that vehicles assembled at the Arlington Texas plant were being stored at a facility in Midlothian Texas. It’s easy to see this facility from satellite imagery available online. It’s MASSIVE!I decided to visit the “covered” parking in Midlothian Texas, because the satellite photos show the vast majority of it not to be covered. Estimates are, there about 20,000 vehicles stored there with only 2 or 3 inches separating each vehicle front to back. I only viewed the site from the nearby public roads. The little bit of covered parking I saw did not have General Motors cars in them. I saw Volkswagen and Audi which I believe they contract for covered parking. General Motors is not so fussy. The vast majority of this parking lot is DIRT. Another surprise was about 10% of the vehicles had their hoods wide-open facing the sun. Why they’re doing this I do not know. Perhaps they’re getting the vehicles ready for the missing part.
My poor “brand new” Tahoe has been baking in the hot Texas sun and temperatures up to 108°F. Hail storms are not uncommon in this part of Texas. Although my monitoring of the weather in the last six months indicates this has probably not happened (so far).
My vehicles are always garage kept so perhaps I am overly sensitive to my $75,000 SUV sitting in the hot sun for many months. As of this writing, neither dealer or General Motors has ANY idea when I might take delivery on my 22 Tahoe. Do a DuckDuckGo search of “Lot Rot” a lot of people are concerned about it, and not just General Motors customers. axleaddict says that there is a risk that your brand new vehicle can come “pre-rusted”, other problems are also possible. Check your vehicle very carefully before you accept it.

ParticipantExcel treats dates as integer numbers, starting with 1 on January 1, 1990. As an illustration, 17 March 2021 is actually 44272. Applying formats like yyyy-mm-dd, yyyy, or yyyy just modifies how these numbers are visually represented; it has no bearing on how they are sorted. https://www.businessbid.com

ParticipantThe time to transport the vehicle is insignificant. I would plan on waiting 8 to 12 months for the chip(s) it is likely missing be installed. GM vehicles built at the large Arlington TX assembly plant are being stored in a dirt parking lot in Midlothian Texas. The salesman told me this parking lot had covered parking to protect vehicles from the sun and hail. I drove there, I only saw a small number of Audis and VW’s in covered parking. GM is not so fussy, all of their vehicles were uncovered. When the vehicle is ready to be picked up, inspect carefully for Lot Rot.

ParticipantOh wow, that sounds like quite a frustrating situation. Waiting 8 to 12 months for the missing chips to be installed in a vehicle is definitely a long time. It’s disappointing to hear that GM vehicles from the Arlington TX assembly plant are being stored in a dirt parking lot without proper cover. The salesman’s assurance of covered parking to protect the vehicles from sun and hail seems to have been misleading.
When it comes time to pick up the vehicle, it’s crucial to inspect it carefully for any signs of Lot Rot. It’s always important to be thorough and ensure that everything is in proper condition before finalizing the purchase.
Dealing with delays and subpar storage conditions can be quite frustrating, but I hope the end result is worth the wait and that you have a positive experience with the vehicle once it’s ready. Hang in there!
