ParticipantSo since the 2013 F150 and JX are coming out? What does everyone think about these two vehicles? Do you guys think GM has what it takes to make the Enclave and Silv/Sierra much better vehicles then those two? Do you think it will sell if not better than the ford truck and JX? For me both vehicles are probably a little too much. I don’t know about you guys but putting myFord Touch on a truck is not necessary since it would get dirty overtime and trucks are meant to work hard having touch sensitive buttons might break easily overtime. Everything about JX is great until I saw CVT and not a proper 6 speed because Nissan thought it’s a good idea to put CVT for FE but it’s only 1 mpg better than the Enclave. But enough said, what do you all think?

ParticipantAs far as the myFord in the F150, that’s just a sign of the times. I just bought a 2012 Ram and have the touchscreen radio/nav system. The fact that it’s a truck doesn’t matter. A large perecentage of truck owners do not work construction or enter their vehicle all dirty. In fact most mommy mobiles are probably way dirtier than the average truck because of the kids and their snacks and whatnot.
The JX looks nice with a nice interior. Looks like a natural competitor for the Enclave and Audi Q7 but I agree about the CVT. They’re junk and would never buy a vehicle with it.

ParticipantI don’t know I have seen a lot of people having lots and lots of gliches and hates the myford touch. I saw this one person and they said don’t even buy the explorer if you’re over age 55 just because of being complicated or they regret trading their vehicle in for a Explorer so I’m not really sure if putting it on a truck would be great about it.

ParticipantQuestion was “What does everyone think about the refreshed 2013 F150 and JX?”
I’ve never looked at it, never thought of it. So nothing in my answer.

KeymasterLooks like I’m a bit late to the party; my apologies, @vic1212 😉 Now:
The F-150 is a winner all around. MyFord Touch has a few glitches here and there, but I’ve never experienced them myself and find the system to be quite intuitive after a brisk 5 minutes of use. Perhaps those who have never used a computer will have problems, but those folks will likely also have issues with a non-touch-screen system. As for the system being in a truck, Ford took particular care to include physical buttons for MFT that can be used in lieu of the touch screen, thus making it easier to use with gloves, dirty hands, etc. And building on what @mozeby said — those with MFT in their F-150s will likely have their hands clean; those with dirty hands are likely to be driving themselves some work trucks. All in all, the F-150 is one solid truck.
Will GM’s next-gen trucks have what it takes to compete with them effectively? I really believe they will, and more. GM has the luxury of two brands here, and it will make good use of them this time around. 😀
As for the JX, the car stems from a lack of financial resources (and lack of commitment) at Nissan to develop a proper set of Infiniti-specific vehicle architectures, so it makes due with a (new) Pathfinder-based chassis. It’s a good CUV, but by no means fits Infiniti’s recent brand of being “performance” this and “sports” that.

ParticipantLOL tisk tisk Alex but isn’t it the JX/Pathfinder based on the Murano platform?

KeymasterIt sure is. Doesn’t change the fact that Infiniti is a lame excuse for a luxury brand that can’t get over its Nissan roots.

ParticipantBut then what do you think about the new fusion and mkz? Because it lOoks like they’re priced more higher than their competition when you put every bells and whistles available on the options list.

KeymasterThat’s because Ford is focusing on profitability rather than high sales volume with both the Fusion and the MKZ.

ParticipantBut then how can you say about the escape since its selling more than the equinox?

ParticipantAnd then focus selling much MORE than cruze?

Keymaster@Vic1212 With every new and redesigned model, Ford’s objective is higher profitability rather than volume. The last-gen Escape sold more than the Equinox and Terrain combined; but I doubt that will be the case with the new Escape, perhaps outside of the first few months of launch when the car is red hot.
In regards to the Cruze, the car has a substantial limit on market appeal. So it’s not a matter of the Focus line selling so well as it is a matter of the Cruze selling poorly.
